This should say something about the Nominee. Although I grew to be excited to have Romney as the nominee, he wasn't my first choice. Santorum was the person who exhibited my core values. People are saying that the Republican party needs to change its platform on social issues. I can't disagree more. I believe we need to embrace our values and explain them better. We need to understand that we will never convince the liberals to see our point of view. As conservatives, we need to continue to appeal to our base, because its the only way we will win future elections.
This line of thinking is why we might never win another election. Every year there is more tolerance of gays and marriage for them, less people identifying as religious, and less antipathy towards certain drugs. Conversely, every year there is less of the "base" you speak of.

IMO, considering the financial mess this country is in, social issues shouldn't even be a factor for anyone voting. I could have cared less if Romney had came out screaming at the top of his lungs that he was Pro Choice conservative. I am more concerned with the economy and the debt crisis.
Sums up how I feel.

social issues are what get people elected in this country.
Good gawd. It's not the social issues, it's the handouts, the bailouts, the free shite.

the republicans need to rewrite their platform to be the party of the individual, not against the individual.
Part two. If one party was against the individual it's the freaking libs! They HATE individualism and love leeches to gov't. It gets them elected over and over.

If you look at the breakdown of the electorate, Hispanics and African Americans are one of the more socially conservative groups around and they voted for Obama. The majority of this group oppose gay marriage and are pro life. This is why we need to elect a true conservative and embrace our social agenda because its obvious that these groups are drawn to a candidate for more than a social agenda.

Do you think those people get out there and vote? Really. The true leeches on society that everyone is bitching about do not sway anything. People who have made medicaid and food stamps and welfare a way of life don't really get out and vote. You goofy bastards!! Meth and crack don't cook and smoke themselves. Vicodin, Soma, and Xanax probably cost $2-4 each for a prescription for a month. Then they can afford their Marlboro's because NOBODY goes cheap on their smokes! These folks have priorities you see and voting is not really one of them.
