The projected deluxe 3-4 pass rushing LBs have become a premium commodity. There's always some discussion of which ones can work there or as a 4-3 DE just a well. Mingo & Jones are the solid names at the top that look to be taken in the first half of Round 1.

#3 on that category for me is solidifying in Tx AM's Damontre Moore. Scout him this week versus Alabama if you are watching. (Tx AM OLB Sean Porter looks top 3 at that position also) Here's some on him for your perusal-

Moore is a complete linebacker that may be as or more prepared than anyone else at playing in the NFL right away.
Moore’s frame is ideal for the 3-4 outside linebacker spot at 6’4? 250 pounds. That size is also just a tad shy of what I would consider good for a 4-3 right end (260 pounds). He doesn’t appear to have the longest arms in the class, but that certainly isn’t a deal breaker. He doesn’t have Mingo’s speed, Jones’ fluidity around the edge, Jordan’s coverage ability, or Ansah’s burst.. but he combines an all-around skillset to form a very polished pass rushing skillset.
I sit here bragging about Jarvis Jones and acknowledging Mingo’s raw talent, but the fact is that Moore leads all defensive players in the SEC with 9.5 sacks. That’s more than Jones’ and Mingo’s totals combined.
Stats never tell the whole story with draft prospects, they usually serve as no more than a prologue. However, the fact that Moore has been consistently performing at a high level in the best conference against some very talented teams has to count for something. I still think Jones is the better prospect, but I have Moore ahead of Mingo.
Moore’s intelligence, technique, and strength are all very refined and fit the archetype of a top 20 pick. He is a player, much like Chandler Jones last year, who can come in on day one and solidify one of the outside linebacker positions in a 3-4 and work in a rotation for a 4-3 defense while he bulks up. He will never be the most athletic guy on the field, but he’ll make up for it with his strength at sealing the edge and his ability to keep offensive lineman at bay with his hands.

10/23/12 - Week 8 Rewind: While LSU's more celebrated pass rushers were largely held in check in this contest, Texas A&M's top defender, junior defensive end Damontre Moore, used the high profile contest to pad his increasingly hard-to-ignore résumé. Moore (pictured above chasing LSU QB Zach Mettenberger) entered this contest leading the FBS in tackles for a defensive lineman (52) as well as sacks (8.5) from an SEC defensive lineman. Perhaps even more impressive, Moore led the Aggies in tackles, tackles for loss (15) and sacks. Prior to suffering an apparent left leg injury midway through the second quarter, Moore led an Aggies' defense that had largely dominated the LSU offense. The hyper-active 6-4, 250 pound Moore registered three tackles, including a sack and a pass broken up early in this contest and showcased his versatility while doing it, alternating between left and right defensive end, as well as looping inside to rush up the middle and even dropping off occasionally into coverage on zone blitzes. He consistently applied pressure to Mettenberger but also showed terrific effort in pursuit, beating Tigers' backs to the edge and closing on receivers from behind yards downfield. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com

Considering the kind of SDE we have in Jordan who can hold down the force and be the run-stopping power, I would love to get someone like Moore. I don't care what the LSU homers say or what the analysts will say after Mingo destroys the combine, Moore is a better football player.

He's thicker, plays with better leverage, looks to have a MUCH stronger lower body against the run and you could make the argument that he's a more polished passrusher whereas Mingo gets by on his freakish speed and athletic ability.

I would love to take Moore and I absolutely believe he'll be available when we pick. Like you mentioned, this draft is DEs galore.

Good call on Porter as well. All that kid is is a player, plain and simple. He will go somewhere and have a long, productive stint in the league. I have no doubt about that.

Can we just put an early claim on Clowney?

Seriously though, I dont want Mingo. There needs to be some actual production to go along with all of that talent we keep hearing about. I heard Kiper saying he was already falling down draft boards and wanted to see him make some plays in the Bama game against that relatively weak pass protecting oline. That didn't happen. He's the 3rd best DE on LSU right now, imo.

I'd love to replace Will Smith with Montgmomery or the DE from FSU, who seems to be climbing.

I saw a mock draft yesterday showing Montgomery to the Saints around the 11th pick.

It's not going to happen but chances are we're going to get a quality DE/OLB in the first.
