Browning Gold Dropping the 3rd shell

I have a browning gold sporting clays 12g. Saturday morning I noticed that it drops the 3rd shell when it cycles. So basically you fire - 1st shell ejects 2nd shell loads to chamber and the 3rd shell follows behind... the carrier is still up so it has no where to go but down.
95% of the time I am only loading 2 shells so I have never noticed the problem...
thoughts?
ETA: this thing prob has 50k+ rounds through it.

i have a browning gold and never had this problem. put a 1000 rounds or so through it before it liked light loads. they did completely redesign on the gun due to cycling issues. i'd call a gunsmith and see if they've ever heard problems like this before. maybe time for a new gun though.
i don't know where 50k rounds puts you in the typical lifespan of a gun, but i would have to think that that many rounds is pushing it if not maintained properly. then again it might just need a part replaced.

The gun is 2nd hand to me... And 50k isn't all that much for someone really into sporting clays.

The earliest model Browning Gold's have known problems with the actions. There was actually 3 generations of Gold Auto's made. The first was notoriously bad and the final was essentially renamed to Silver. Low brass, high brass and even Mags have loading problems. I sent my first generation Gold back to Browning this summer as it broke down after less than 200 rounds. They updated the gun and had it back to me in a few weeks.

The easiest way to fix this problem is do what I did and get rid of it and get a SBE.

I own a Benelli M2, its a darn good gun. Browning is top notch too and their customer service is exceptional. Other than shipping the upgrade of my gun cost me nothing.

I hated mine between the hanging up and it just not fitting me its the worst auto I ever own. I can't tell you how many shells I've shot through my Benellis with out a problem and when I put that gun to my shoulder some normally dies

My son has one that he got this summer. Teal hunting, it gave him problems a few times. And yes, it was new.

Honestly, comparing the inertia actions to the older gas actions is a bit unfair. Its like comparing a Model T to a Ferrari. Sure, their purpose is largely the same but how they function is markedly different. In its time the Gold was a great gun and was copied by most of the major gunmakers including Winchester and Beretta. I remember when Benelli hit the market and there were numerous naysayers about the gun at the time. Thats certainly changed now.
I used my Gold primarily as a turkey gun and its knocked over dozens of them. Admittedly, I've got a soft spot in my heart for the gun even though it let me down this past Spring.
The Benelli is pretty remarkable but I'll be truthful, when compared to the Maxus I see no clear favorite. Both the modern Brownings and Benelli's are top notch.
To the OP, if the gun has 50K rounds its probably time it visits a gunsmith. Some parts do invariably wear out and its likely something very minor.
