Coach turned the corner Sat night - yes, you read that right

Even though his hat tricks did not work out, the entire college football nation was thinking.."damn, and we thought LSU was on the downswing, but this game might be the very event that propels them to win it all in 2013"
Sure, the hat is still going to make you all scratch your head from time to time. That's never going to change.
But the trend of QB and Oline challenges is the ONLY thing that has allowed Bama to be a tad better of a football program than LSU over the last few years, and that is changing right in front of our very eyes.
McElroy and McCarron are the main reasons why Saban has outclassed Miles in overall recruiting, but Mett grew up Sat night, and we have 2 great young Qb's coming in next year along with the potential of Rivers.
Turner, Collins and Alexander on the line are a helluva group to continue building around.
Our recievers struggled for the better part of the year, but they stepped up Sat night, and will now be moving to a strength.
The defense will re-load in 2013, you can bet on that.
Miles deficiency has been QB, Oline and a few crazy sideline decisions.
Expect the sideline decisions to leave you scratching your head now and again...But you know what? An honest inspection makes that true for every coach.
A coach that had won more than 80% of his games seems like one that has already turned the corner, so based on results alone, I understand folks who do not agree with the title of this thread.
But, if you count results and also indications of correcting things that have kept the team from achieving even higher levels than the 2008-2012 teams, you may then agree that he turned a higher level corner this last weekend.
Les fricken Miles...the dude is legend, and will be building on that in a big way in his remaining time on the LSU sidelines.

I like the way you're thinking, I hope the 11/3 LSU offensive scheme wasn't a one hit wonder.

I agree with all of that. This team will be stacked next year. How many freshman DB's and Linebackers are playing significant minutes? At most you lose Mingo, Montgomery,Logan, Reid, and Minter. Best case scenario just Mingo and Montgomery leave. LSU has guys like Rasco and Hunter who could step right in. With Chris Faulk back next year and Zach getting more time to develop, next year could be special. It starts with the bowl game then we come out and dominate TCU in Jerry's World. Its great to be a tiger fan just ask SVP his opinion.

We'll see this coming Saturday.

I'd love to see us keep this offensive identity rolling for the next three regular season games.
Nothing would make me happier if we went into the offseason with a balanced offensive identity that gave the fanbase optimism for the future.

Mett, the o-line and the backs stepped up. Several times ZM stepped into throws under heavy pressure. And completed them. Several times Alabama brought 5 or more, and the vast majority of the time got stonewalled

If our D reloads next year like it usually does under Chavis/Miles and our offense finishes the rest of this year like it did against Bama, we will be ranked #1 next year pre-season. I think we are on course to continue as one of the top 3 programs in the nation and hopefully, one of these years things will bounce our way and we are able to capitalize. This is a great time to be an LSU football fan, no matter what some people here say about the coaching staff. I love our coaches, school, and players and wouldn't want to switch with any other, even BAMA, hell, especially BAMA.

Saban changed and became a better coach over the years.
I have faith that Miles can do the same, and even though I feel like he ultimately cost the team the game, I saw a lot of things I liked from him.
Glad we have him.

that's some heavy losses on D...while I think we can reload, that worries me.

I know every year is different. But, I was afraid of losing Peterson and Sheppard after 2010. Then we saw how that turned out. This year, I was scared of us losing Claiborne, Brooks, Taylor, and Brockers. We're seeing how that is turning out this year.
Mingo and Montgomery will be hard to replace, but just look at how many of the key players from Saturday night were underclassman. It's absolutely amazing how young we were on defense and on the offensive line.
To see them perform like they did on college football's biggest stage... well, it bodes well for the future to say the least

You may have admirable intentions, but anyone that continues to think LSU will win another national title under Les Mile's is just aimlessly wishing . He was lucky, very lucky to win the only one he has as he tried to give that one away as well that year, damn fool.
Les Miles is a buffoon that continues to plague this very talented institution. His coaching is a joke. Alabama should have gotten blown out in the second half, and any decent coach would have done just that, but this idiot with the buffoonery he calls coaching kept them in the game and gave it to them at the end like I knew he would. As long as Les Miles is at LSU it doesn't matter how stacked we are, we will always embarrass ourselves with this idiot calling the shots.
