I just want to make the double pistol holster, I can't find the artisan/craftsman to unlock to make them with. Anyone know where he is?

Do any homestead mission you can find. When you do them, the people that live on your land will sometimes level up. I think sequence 8 or 9 is when a bunch start to pop up.

I'm into this game pretty far and still the best money maker is the one available near the beginning of the game (hint for those just starting). Just go to your fav store (mine is in frontier because its across street from fast travel point) and go to accounting book. Purchase beaver pelts from the hunter, and use those to sell via LAND CONVOY. The only benefit to naval convoys is 0% tax... but you can send 3x land convoys per naval convoy, netting a bigger profit for the 38 mins or whatever the fastest naval convoy is. (In reality, might as well send your naval convoys as well)
You can also hunt beaver pretty easy, but I prefer to just save my time and buy. Due to the fast travel points, you can literally buy and send convoy anytime. I've tried crafting and trading but I have yet to find a faster, easier money maker than just buying beaver pelts and trading them via land convoy. Don't forget to attack Templar forts and complete Liberation Missions to lower tax and risk for land convoys!
