NO. That LSU team was not near as good as this one. AND IMO this Bama team is not near as good as the 79 USC team.BEFORE THIS game LSU has a shot. Not many people thought the 79 LSU team had a chance.

I'd agree, going to the game there was no build up of great intensity, it developed during the game as the Tigers played way beyond expectations.

Times are different, the relationship between LSU and Bama is different the build up since Saban arrived at Alabama is different, the SEC championship was not on the line and the championship didn't even mean that much since scheduling was peculiar back then and there was no BCS.

I'M feeling the 1982 whipping against FSU when everything went our way as LSU received a Orange Bowl bid. The fog came storming into the Stadium.

That's exactly right. We were lowly LSU and they were mighty USC. It was more like "The Mouse That Roared" or "David and Goliath" than "Clash of the Titans".
