houston gets a potential superstar type

OKC gets martin on a 1-year rental and they get to see if lamb can be their 2 over that year

Surprised by this thread. I think this is a poor deal for both teams and an incredibly bad deal for OKC. Seems like an incredibly stupid trade on their part. They don't need a bunch of mediocre players (which those protected 1sts will likely be and Kevin Martin is). The odds on Lamb being a Harden-type player are also pretty low.

If you compare this strictly on a player to player basis you could make a good case for OKC but that is not the big picture for them. They have a nice window to win a title (or multiple titles). They just made that less likely with this trade. I also don't buy the money argument; they are one of the premier franchises right now with a great fanbase. One way to make a lot of money is to have a fun team that wins a lot. Seems like a shite deal to me first glance. I would be very happy if I were a Lakers fan.
