He didn't piss away an NFL career, but Rohan Davey was working for UPS or Fed Ex. Not sure if he still is.
You can make a decent wage, depending upon what you do for them. It can be hard physical work though I'm sure a former football player would find it ok.

Skyler (sp?) Green worked for UPS, he used to deliver where I work before I started working there.
