Well there's something to look forward to in 3 and half years.

Hopefully this is the beginning of the process of getting us out of concacaf and into conmebol.

I doubt we ever really break away from CONCACAF. The more likely future scenario is for the two confederations to merge into one. It would be a massive confederation, but Asia and Africa both have massive distances between member nations. Even UEFA countries include far reaching places like Armenia and Kazakhstan.

CONMECAF would be a huge federation...

Huge, yes. But not unheard of. UEFA has 53 members. CONCACAF + CONMEBOL would be 50. And most of those are insignificant Caribbean nations.

The number of relatively competitive nations is probably 20-25.

I wasn't thinking it was too big, but I wasn't sure of the numbers, either.

If there's a game in Nashville, I'll be there.

They would probably play the big matches in NFL stadiums. As for a potential sexy matchup featuring Peru and Panama, the organizers may opt for a smaller MLS stadium like Columbus or Portland.

Do not want this. I like the all but guaranteed WC berth in Concacaf.

I think the better idea would be to merge the two federations like somebody mentioned and have 8 or 9 berths up for grabs.

Yeah. We merge with South America and getting to the WC is way, way harder.

There would be groups of what 5 or 6 teams? Two or three would be crap, but others would be solid.

Wouldn't travel be a major hinderance to the two confederations combining or am I way off on that?
