re: Andrew Luck is having a slightly better season than RG3

RGIII is leading the league in efficiency when being blitzed. Luck is good, but Griffin has a different element, and he is a throw first qb, not just an athlete.

i'd take RG3 if I were the Skins, Luck if I were the Colts. They bring different skills to the table. I like RG3 a lot though.

Andrew Luck is the right-handed Steve Young and RG3 is the black Aaron Rodgers. Different styles, same elite production.

Stopped reading when it said Green Bay was a tough defense.

Lol, Luck is nothing like Young. If anything RGIII is a carbon copy of Young with a stronger arm and better athleticism. Were you alive when Young came into the league? He's give any modern day head coach a migraine with how much he scrambled, he was a fvcking decapitated jackrabbit.

This article is fvcking terrible for so many reasons.
First of all, it uses QBR. This is arguably the most arbitrary subjective "stat" of all-time. ESPN's continued efforts to shove it down our throats are nauseating.
Second, it proclaimed Green Bay an elite defense. Shoulda stopped reading there.
Third, it used the amount of YAC from RGIII's WRs as a negative. I would argue it's the exact opposite. There's a difference between accuracy in college and in the pros. In the pros you have to have the ability to not only put the ball on your receiver but also to put it in a position where he can catch and run. One of RGIII's most underrated qualities is his ability to hit receivers almost perfectly in stride. This is seen in their high YACs compared to others.
Finally, I don't care what statistical world you live in, it's is unarguable that a QB with WORST completion percentage is better than a QB with the BEST completion percentage.
I'll still listen to those who think Luck will be better in the end. They're still wrong, like they always have been, but I think it's interesting to hear their reasons. Anyone arguing that Luck has been the better QB through this point in their rookie seasons however is a bust-arse ruhtard.

i'm not getting into the dick measuring contest of this thread, but this statement, as a general rule, is wrong
completing a bunch of short throws increases completion rate. attempting longer throws decreases completion rate. completion rate, as a single variable, doesn't tell us any sort of story about any QB

You're arguing systems not QBs. That's all this article was doing.

not necessarily
some QBs are aggressive. some QBs are matt ryan pre-2012 (king checkdown)

Eh. One guy leads the league in completion percentage and yards per attempt. The other is last in completion percentage and below the aforementioned in yards per attempt.
If you want to argue the merits of a horizontal vs vertical system I'll listen to that. Each has their positives and negatives and its a very interesting debate IMO.
If you want to argue that someone who is the most likely in the league to complete an attempt and will also gain the most yards from that attempt is worse than someone who is most likely not to complete his attempt then I'd say you have a terrible argument.
