Try to avoid spoilers, but I'm not gonna flip a lid if one is posted.
I put up with the campy-ness until.. season 4 or 5.. then something happened (wont say what) and I just stopped watching. Have never had a desire to go back.

Post spoiler and tell me what it was, as long as it wasn't in season 7.
Bumped because I'm starting 7 and this is when most of you said it gets good.
ETA: The guy who plays Lionel Luther is badass. Very believable character.
