My biggest problem with the coaching yesterday was actually the 4th quarter drive we had up 14-12 when we moved it down to field running the ball then we started getting cute when we got to first and goal. If we had just kept smashing it we probably go 21-12 right there instead of kicking the field goal and letting them hang around.

This good example of impressions people get from watching a game but not studying the replay afterwards. I know most people don't have the time or desire to do this, but forming opinions without having all the information possible is just wrong.

On the play you cited, if you go back and watch this play, you will see that a running play was called (the line was all blocking down) but presnap Mett looked over and saw that Landry had been left completely uncovered.

TAMU's CB had been misaligned and was sprinting from the right side of the line over to the left to cover Landry. I don't think Mett saw the CB running over, or if he did it was already too late once the ball was snapped. He completed the throw but the CB managed to get over in time to blow the play up.

So as nearly as I can tell from the replay, this one was not on the coaching staff, but just on a weird sequence of events. It happens and is just the fortune of the game sometimes. If the CB had adjusted just a step or two slower it would probably have been a TD.

Like most of the blame that gets laid on the coaching staff by uninformed fans, the truth is usually something else.
