Well no I've drawn a line in the sand with the witty retort.

Can't number them now, or I come across as a pushover.

We appear to be at an impasse

Votes don't count unless they are numbered and there are 20 of them.

This is going to be so hard. What does everyone think on the old South Park vs. the New South Park. I think my list will be new heavy, but I still love some of the classics. The Halloween episodes are tough to deal with too, because I love them, but they are holiday episodes.

Some are tough calls too. Like episodes that are good, but contain a great side character. Lemmiwinks, Super School Ski Instructor Thumper, Annnnnnd it's gone finance guy, etc. But, will they be enough to carry an episode into the top 20?????

Credit given to Archie for planting the idea in my head.

I'm not sure what everyone else thinks, but I think they peaked at season 10. They have had good ones since then. But I doubt any of them will make my top 20.

I will be doing this later, but it will require some pretty extensive Wikipedia research on my part, and I don't have time at the moment.

Its honestly mid-South Park that's the best. Seasons 5-11 is the pinnacle of South Park, with 5-6 being easily the best short stretch of the run. 10 out of my top 25 come from those two seasons, so it was a hell of a run. Very early South Park though doesn't really compare to mid or more recent late South Park. Seasons 1 and 2 are pretty unbelievably awful on rewatches.

I don't know about peaked, but that is when I think the strongest group of seasons is. Season 9 is my favorite, but seasons 9-11 are loaded with great episodes. I still like some older ones though, and I like some newer ones. I imagine my top 10 will be heavy on seasons 9-11, and the bottom 10 will be a combo of early and newer eps. Current season is 16; so, I consider 1-6 [97'-02'] "early," and 12-16 ['08-'12] "newer."

I disagree with this. Once you get past the absolutely awful animation, which is funny in its own right, those first seasons are hilarious.

Add another few since you can combine these into one episode each.

Really the first 2 seasons just tried to capitalize on the fact that it wasn't made for tv yet and ahead of its time, and it was actually held back. Once Comedy Central allowed the show to get its way almost fully, the quality increased as well. Once the movie came out, the show as a whole got much better.

I guess that's why I like them so much. When I rewatch the really early ones I feel lik eI'm wathcing them again for the first time and thinking "OMG did they just do that?".

I actually wish they would bleep out shite and other stuff still because I think it was funnier.

Big Gay Al, Halloween, Mr. Hankey, could all be in my top 20.

1. Make Love Not Warcraft – For any WOW fan, this is most likely #1. When this episode came out, WOW was at its peak. This episode was by far and away the #1 episode for me. It pretty much was spot on with WOW and how some gamers truly were.
2. Awesome-O – “Hey Awesome-O, who is going to win the super bowl” – Awesome-O “The New Orleans Saints” – Enough said….
3. Towelie – The pot smoking towel who loved to play video games. It was a revolutionary episode. He always had to get high…
4. Trapped in the Closet – Not only are we making fun of Scientology, but they destroy R-Kelly, Tom Cruz, and John Travolta. John Travolta – OH MY GOD!
5. Chickenlover – One of the early episodes that I just couldn’t leave out. This was a former #1 episode of mine. Cartman on his big wheel acting like he is on an episode of Cops. Cartman – “Poor people tend to live in…clusters” “Respect my Authoratah!”
6. Butters Bottom Bitch – Easily one of my favorite episodes that is fairly new. Butters becoming a pimp is freaking money. He is whoring the girls out in his class room for kisses, hugs, and money. The cop goes way over the edge in this episode lol..
7. Rainforest Shmainforest – Another one of my favorite episodes from the earlier seasons. Guess starred by Jennifer Aniston. The boys take a trip to South America, and Cartman is the bad kid on the bus. Cartman once again sets himself apart in this episode as one of the greatest characters in TV history. If he isn’t taking fake pictures of South American prostitutes, he is ordering Mexican take-out from a South American native in the jungle. Greatness…
8. Prehistoric Iceman – This should probably be high on the list. This episode came out during the height of the “Croc Hunter” TV show. Cartman pretending to be a crocodile hunter while Stan and Kyle fight over who gets to name the prehistoric Iceman. Steve, gets sad and wants to move to Des Moines LOL. Cartman needs to watch out for those Jaguars aka Mr. Kitty.
9. Good Times with Weapons – The boys get their hands on ninja weapons from a local fair. The boys play ninjas with Professor Chaos and Kenny hits Professor Chaos in the eye with a ninja star and crazyness ensues when they find out Chaos is Butters.
10. Raisins – One of the more eye popping episodes for me at the time. I was blown away when this episode came out. Butters falls in love with a Raisin’s girl who has no interest in him, but is working Butters for tips. Butters gets heart broken when he sees Mercedes cheating on him with another customer.
11. Scott Tenorman Must Die – This episode even makes me not to want too piss off Cartman. Cartman goes on the revenge when Scott Tenorman embarrasses Cartman and steals Cartman’s money when he sells Cartman his pubes. Cartman gets his parents killed and makes them into Chili.
12. Something you can do with your finger – an underrated episode..Cartman forms a boy band with the hit single “Fingerbang”. The boys catch a break when they get to perform in the town mall.
13. Medicinal Fried Chicken – one of the more recent episodes to land on this list. With the recent uproar over medicinal stores popping up, the local KFC gets shutdown in favor or this store. Randy gives himself cancer in order to get a prescription. Cartman begins working for the underground mob to smuggle KFC into South Park.
14. Casabonita – Cartman raves about Casabonita and how it’s the greatest place to eat ever. Cartman tries to become a friend of Kyles when Kyle tells him he can’t come to Casabonita for his birthday. Cartman helps Butters hide from aliens so Cartman can go to Casabonita with the gang.
15. Do the handicapped go to hell/Probably – Cartman becomes a preacher and gets kids to come to his church for services. Cartman builds a church empire and tries to show people that he has healed the handicapped.
16. Ginger Kids – This seems like a revolving theme on this list. Once again Cartman is at it again being against Gingers. That is until the boys play a prank on him and Cartman turns into a daywalker himself. Cartman tries to execute all the non ginger kids in town..
17. The Coon – The great superhero known as the Coon is unveiled in this episode only to be outdone by Mysterion.
18. The Last of the Meeheecans – This episode makes the list, simply because of Butters awesomeness. Butters becomes a national hero when he goes to Mexico and turns the state of Mexico around.
19. Fatbeard – Cartman and friends become pirates and sail around the world for “booty”. Cartman is a pirate..enough said.
20. Chinpokomon – The boys fall in love with the latest toy. Kyle is falling behind because he can’t keep up with the latest trends. Meanwhile the Japanese are quietly brainwashing all the kids to join the Japan army and bomb Pearl Harbor. The parents try to turn the kids on to new toys such as the great Alabama man.

Once the list is done, each post could have a link to the episode from SP Studios, a write up from one of our own, and probably a link to a write up from the AV Club or someone similar.

I'm in for any write ups on any episode. I did those pretty quickly, and would spend more time on a better list.
