Mett Has Not Been Good

Hate to be negative after a great victory, but that's how I feel about it. Mett impresses me less and less every game. Who can blame the coaches for calling such a disproportionate number of running plays when the QB play is so poor (plus, the WRs' issues with dropped passes in previous games). The most frustrating play of the game last night IMO was the slant-and-go to the left side, where the receiver was wide open for a TD, and Mett overthrew him. Excellent play call and design, terrible execution. Same thing with the fade to the TE in the end zone (I think it was on 3rd and goal) - that pass must've been 10 feet over his head. At least give the receiver a chance!
Anyways, I'm happy with our record and the season so far, but I hope we can get better play out of our QB. Our defense and running game can take us very far this season, but I think we'll need Mett to step up if we want a chance to win it all. Until he does, I won't argue if the coaches call 70+% running plays.

I strongly dislike your post and negativity.

I've been a little disappointed with his accuracy, but he still seems to be finding his way. Confidence will come. He reminds me of McCarron early last year.

I think you love it.

On both passes Les Miles was extremely happy...Mett didn't throw it any where near the defense. Zach is passing more to not throw interceptions, than to complete passes.
Gotta turn him loose at some point and let him make plays.

Mett is doing fine for a first yr sec qb

He hasn't been as good as we hoped he would be ... That said, he hasn't been "bad" per se ... He's just not there yet and has been very inconsistent and merely average this far. Hopefully he will grow and get better as things play out.

Less than 24 hours after a great win and you come out of the woodworks. Can't you really not see the improvements? He doesn't have to be all-world for us to roll.
Go look at how many yards we put up on the ground against a vaunted defense. And you think that happened without the passing?

I agree. I wouldn't say he's been bad. He will get better as the year goes on and will be back next year.

He's not perfect, but he is not afraid to sling it after a bad throw. I respect that about him. I am pleased with his play so far.

I enjoy the fact that people who are generally negative have to preface their statements with, "I hate to be negative".

the rant was expecting Payton Manning out there...
he has most of the tools but lacks intangibles that come with experience. every game, at this point, is a big learning opportunity.

You obviously aren't too sure how these things work...
Landry cut the route off actually, he doesn't come out the break hard enough and that's why the ball appears to be over thrown. It was actually a damn good throw.
This throw was also a good one, USCe took the fade away and Mett did exactly what you're taught to do when it's taken away, throw high and hope for the best.
All that being said, his play isn't actually bad, sure it's not lighting the world on fire, but he's not loosing games and he's making throws when it's important (the one that comes to mind is the throw to landry on 3rd down on the way to the go ahead score). The biggest problem he has is forcing balls at times, i.e. the int, and receivers droppings passes. Don't be so quick to throw this all on the QB, he played a pretty solid game last night outside of the pick.

I always thought this team would be around 60-40
take into account of all the 4th quarter rushes early in the season.
ranter gonna retard.

Putting it on Mett is just bullshite! The whole team needed to come together as they did. Mett made some great throws last night that sustained drives. The Oline blocked, the receivers made catches and our backs ran the damn ball. Great team effort and great improvement. Which must mean the coaches must have coached them up as well. Do we need to improve? Yes we do, particularly in the passing game but don't bitch about a team on the rise.

That's not what I meant to do. My point is that, until Mett plays better and more reliably, I have no problem with the vast majority of our plays being running plays. It's funny how before last night, a lot of people were complaining about how few passing plays we call (I was not one of those people). After a dominant running performance and a huge victory, I haven't heard much out of those people. That's because our run-heavy offense is justified.
And to the guy who made the "generally negative" comment, I would challenge you to find a single negative post (about LSU) in my history.
