As always you have provided some awesome pics of majestic animals doing work. I absolutely love to see a good dog work. It is what they were born for and what they live for....

over the past 30 plus years.. I have had labs, chessies and shorthairs.... current shorthair is 3 pushing 4... and every day is a new adventure... they are insanely loyal dogs they bond ridiculously with their inner circle of people....which includes the people they live with and hunt regularly.. heck... wick came to take lil choupique to a ball game and ours caught wind of wick... BOOM he was in the car and it took everything I had to get him out.. and yes.. he sulked the rest of the day thinking he missed a hunting trip. IMHO.... the pointing breeds..(for the record.. IMO this is pointers, GSP, Britts and english or llewellyn setters)... have much much better noses than any of the "retrieving" breeds... THey need exercise and structure... I couldn't imagine not having one.... god help the moles in our back yard....same for frogs, crickets, lizards, squirrels, cats, goats, bats, birds, snakes, orangutangs... it doesn't matter if it moves, flies, wiggles or jumps.. he goes after it... turning into a decent tracking dog. if we could just keep him the same time zone as us... and that is a great pick of the now 5'9 lil choupique....

dang I was chubby... i might also add that GSP and other "bird" dogs.. are houdinis at escape... everyone in our neighborhood.. knows ours... and some in neighborhoods up to 2 miles away... he coaxes kids into letting him out to go play in the park.. then he follows them around... or he just lets himself out and chills with the firemen or the kids in the park... he knows which houses are "safe" to visit.. ie he gets fed played with and brought inside.. and which houses are not.... i was at a football game the other night... OH>.. that is your brown and white dog......

The one I had was a nose with long legs on it. She was incredibly active and could run forever. She was on her way to being a great dog. Caught parvo at 9 months and died

Sorry I had to Bump this thread. Welcome to the club. You now own one of the most beautiful dogs on the planet. Here is our GSP and hands down this has been the best dog I have every owned. He is 6 months old and we just got our shock collar. We plan to use it very sparingly and were really torn on getting it, but these dogs are too smart for their own good. Day 1 - He is already sticking his tongue out at me.

I have two that look almost identical to yours. I have a male and female (same ltter). The female mostly stays with me and does some hunting. She blood trails deer (I bow hunt alot). The male goes to the office everyday with my dad. He is the most chill dog ever. He sleeps all day and greets clients at the door (hes in the professional services). They are awesome with kids. The only draw back is they need to run every now and then. Additionally, they do get jittery during seperation. Train them young to spend some time every day alone. I think this goes a long way as mine our now 4.

he's in his awkward looking stage. makes me laugh and remember when my male was like that. the female pup that i have now is about to be there. i dont think she will get as disproportional my male did though. how is the training coming?

It's crazy, he will do just about everything we tell him, IF he wants to. For instance he sits and stays on command. I swear to you he will poop on command as well. In the 6 months we have had him he as only poop in the house twice and that was very early on as a pup. I take him outside and tell him to pooh and he does. We are getting the collar because when he doesn't want listen it is a problem. He gets so excited to see our boys that he jumps on them no matter what we do or say. He has also learned how to jump in the whirlpool bathtub in our bathroom and turn the water on when he wants something to drink.

We get ours out three times a week for a good walk/run and it is all he needs. I was expecting a lot more, but it turns out he is just lazy.
