Same argument that people used to make for keeping Charlie Mac. Mack Brown, Mark Richt, Phil Fulmer, fall into the same category. Too good to fire, but rarely produce championships. Good enough if second place suits you.

Maybe, but is 7-5 that much worse than 9-3. Neither is a championship season.

I admit it..I would accept a National Championship every 7 years. If that is underachieving then I'm all for it...
