Do they run the film if nobody is there?

GF and I went to see Trouble with the Curve last night at a 12 screen theater. This feature was shown in a small auditorium (nice - leather, or more likely faux leather, couches, chairs and love seats with foot rests; beer and wine available). There was only one other couple in that auditorium so we wondered if nobody was there, would they even bother to show the feature.
Pressing first world question begging for an answer.

I went to a movie about 7 years ago and arrived after the previews and me and my cousin were the only two people in the theater. So yeah, they do run them.

If they run the film when nobody is there and it's a silent movie, does it make a sound?

I worked in a theater early in college and they definitely didn't show the movie if nobody bought a ticket.

You were 1 of 4 people in the theater room?
That's how it is at every movie I go to. That's how it is for real cinephiles!

I've walked in a theater before where the worker was actually kind of annoyed that they had to set up the movie because someone showed up.
It was one of those old school theaters that only had 2 cinemas-left and right.

When I went to see Alien on open day there was 4 people in the threater for the first showing.
I have seen 3-4 movies were I was the only person in the threater.

When I used to write movie reviews every movie I saw in the theater was by myself at 12 or 1 in the morning.

Ok, so this already happened. So, did they run the movie?
ETA: Forgive me. I'm an idiot.
