Dgaf what you think

Of course you do. Your pretty little thread didn't go quite as well as you liked.

Think your next questions through before you post them.

No... but I do have a want to discuss his entire offense with him and I do have a want to call some plays. I know I can be more creative.

This is easy...Empty backfield, bring in the deep snapper as the center, have Mett at punter distance, tell all 5 "new" receivers to go long, tell Mett to heave the ball as far as he can before the other team destroys him.....BAM, this offensive scheme is guaranteed to get us at least 5 field goal attempts in the problematic red zone.

Now, it is Les' responsibility to see that his WRs can catch. That is his issue and I don't know how to fix it either and other coaches may not as well. shite happens.

so, by your own admission, it's Les' job to make sure the WR's can catch, and I can extrapolate that to mean, he should make sure the OL can block, the QB can throw precisely, the RB's can pick up an oncoming blitz, etc…. correct?

now, none of that is CURRENTLY happening for us… so, by your statement, and knowing what's going on, who ELSE should be blamed?? sure, the snow falls on ALL the geese's asses, but the goose with the biggest arse, gets the most snow….

This is just a simple question and not a jab at all.
It's really not a simple question. It's a silly one that has an implication which is sillier.

Even the worst doctors around who have had significant malpractice know more about medicine than I do. But, if they amputate the wrong arm on some dude, I am very safe in calling that a frick up.

And, if they frick up and amuputate the wrong limb 3 or 4 times in a year, I can call them incompetent. And they will STILL know more than me about medicine.

In other words, one need not be an expert in a field to recognize incompetence or substandard performance in a field or a particular area of that field.

Anyone that can't comprehend that is an idiot.

No...

well, let me help you out…. Stud at SEC media days said, in as many words, that Les Miles essentially calls the play that goes into action on the field each play offensively…

does that clear up WHO'S calling the plays for you now?

I do not know more about football that Les Miles.

However, I do, apparently, know more about examining mistakes and making sure the same mistakes aren't made in multiple consecutive weeks.

For instance, apparently, Les Miles does not, apparently, know how to watch game film, recognize that Chevis Jackson is struggling to cleanly field punts and replace him with Early Doucet before Chevis muffs a punt against UF deep in our own territory resulting in a UF TD.

"I may not know more about football, but I think I know more about Les Miles than Les Miles does, that man has not an introspective bone in his body."

I obviously don't post here much, but I thoroughly enjoy reading the Rant.

To be clear, I am 66 years old and have been following the Tigers since the 50's. My father, class of '39, and myself, class of '69, use to listen to the Tigers on radio in the days of Jimmy Taylor and J W Broadnax (Great name for a fullback!)

To answer the question, NO. I played in the era of the single wing and the 6-2-2-1 defense. I don't know squat about coaching football.

That being said, hear me out. Mayo is spot on, IMO. I use to be on the hiring committee for a major US airline and interviewed many a hopeful pilot ( I was chief pilot for the 757 fleet, so I have some credibility here). I asked everyone of them the same question, "What is the most important attribute of being a professional pilot?"

I got a lot of answers, but rarely the one I was looking for. The answer I was looking for was, "Judgement and knowing your limitations." Mayo calls it "introspection". CLM doesn't appear to have any. To use an aviation analogy, Miles keeps trying to land an aircraft in weather with 100' ceiling and 1/2 mile visibility, and keeps having to abort the landing.

There comes a time when you have to try a different approach (pun intended).

Respectfully submitted.

I don't know more, but apparently my eye sight is way better. He doesn't seem to be able to see that runs into a 9 man box don't work.

I'd say he is responsible for the playcalls as are all HCs.
On a more serious note, you're a DB coach, don't you reckon he gets plays from above?

I'm sure he's in on some DnD choices, but most are part of the playsheet discussed by staff on fridays.
Most plays are cover dependent and need guidance from above.
Does Miles strike you as the type to pinpoint these from the sideline?

Rightly so. He used to be a pretty good poster until he started this little sugar plum. It was a strawman disguised as a loaded question, posing as a introspective POV, but ended up just being a turd.

So what did it prove?

Does Miles know more about football than everyone on here?

If the answer is yes you must also claim that he must not have a "want" to improve our offensive deficiencies since he has not done so?
