I think I have a better offensive system and could probably manage the clock more efficiently at the end of games and the half, but in all other facets of the game, no.

That's my main beef with the offense, the "philosophy" is fine, but you have to use scheme to create advantage, you can't expect every player to win every play. This is really the only difference in Bama's offense and LSU's, they do a good job of using motion to create a mis-match, or using the little pick play to create an open receiver, or crossing routes, screens, etc. Those plays aren't complex, but have little elements that put players in better position to make plays.

All true. I'm a fan of ball control, and establishing the run, but you have to keep people honest, at the very least. When you go to a pocket passing QB with very limited mobility, you can't run Navy and Georgia Tech's passing game.

we scored 30 points combined in those two games...08 didn't have a 3 and 10 point performance on their resume was the other factor

We became a better running team in 07.

Thanks to Jimbo and Saban?

I for one do not know a lot about FB beyond playing it in HS and watching it on TV, etc. I dare say many of us fit that category.

Proves my point even more.

The only point you have proven is that you suffer from such a serious case of "entitlement syndrome" that you will go so far as to claim that the most wins in BCS/SEC football since 05 is "underachieving" in your thought process.

When your HC in his career at your school has more wins than any other program during that time period, more West titles than any other school in the West, as many SEC titles as any other school, more 11 win seasons than any school in the SEC, more Top 8 finishes than any school in the SEC, and 2 NCG appearences but this is seen as "underachieving"...well, perhaps your expectations are just a tad over the top.

yeah He doesn't have exactly a Yukon budget like LSU more like a Yugo budget. Mullen is a better coach no question.

Entitlement syndrome? Is that a real thing?

Les has the most wins in the BCS era since 2005. Good for him. We won the SEC last year. Wooo good for us. Then we got embarrassed by Alabama, who is in our division. That basically cancels out the SEC championship. So, i guess youd rather have a SEC championship than a natl title? And I know we won in 2007, but its tainted. We were a 2 loss team that lost to Arkansas in the deciding game that would of sent us to the natl championship, no matter who won or lost in the other games. Plus, it was a senior laden team that were Sabans players. I know its a BS thing to say, but its true. Flynn, Dorsey, Highsmith, Favorite, Steltz, Zenon, Tyson Jackson, Chevis Jackson, Will Arnold, Curtis Taylor, Beckwith, JACOB HESTER, etc. Those were our best players that year, wouldnt you agree? Almost all of them were Saban players.

Dont get me wrong. Im thrilled that we have won the most games since 2005. But, we have little to show for it. Saban doesnt have the most wins since 2005, but hes got the championships. Wins < Championships.

Doesnt matter though. We are all entitled to our opinions, whether another person agrees or disagrees makes no difference.

the sunshine pumpers think the SEC title supercedes the national title. #2 in the nation!

we backed into the national title game. but it was a still a national title.

All Saban's players. We should have dominated that year yet lost to fricking KY in Lexington. 2006 we should have won a national title as well.

Saban got more out of his shorter tenure at alabama than Miles did with 2 more years under his belt. that is not debatable. bottom line, Saban is getting it done and Miles is doing good but not great especially with the resources and talent that LSU has.

if mullen is such a great coach with all these limitations of money, facilities etc. then why didn't he run back to florida when urban left. he could have had all the resources he wanted but he stayed where it was comfortable and people would excuse his record.

didn't want to be under the shadow of urban. Maybe he didn't get along with Foley?

That can't be. I remember the rantards bitching that Saban was handcuffing Jimbo's offense.

I dont know... thats a question only he and UF can answer. Maybe UF wanted to get a D minded guy, like Muschamp? Maybe they told him he could stay as OC, but not head coach? Maybe he wanted to go to a school where he could build his own program, instead of continuing what Meyer already built at UF?
He cant control who UF hires...

3 years down the road, you can't really call them Saban's players. There were significant contributions made by Miles recruits that year as well...

Yes you can. Saban recruited them, Saban got them here, and they had a year being developed by Saban on D and by Fisher on offense. And yes, there were some of Miles guys that made contributions that year, I def agree with that, but the "Saban players" that I listed were the heart of the team and were the guys that made the biggest contributions to that team. Cant deny that.

27 pts was the lowest output in regulation for any game Flynn started in '07 (only scored 21 vs Tenn (of which 7 were Zenon's pick-6) in the SECCG which RP played but we piled up 475 yds).

'06 had a lot of talent but we only score 3 vs Auburn and 10 vs UF. Seemed like Jimbo always laid an egg or two each season.

As much as everyone has come to despise Crowton I think he had a huge part in '07' success. He has a lot of shortcomings as an OC but he meshed well with the '07 team.

yes, this typically happens with seniors on most teams...but those players were largely developed during Miles tenure. I did the math after that season, production on offense and defense was largely split between players recruited by Saban and by Miles

I wonder if FSU fans are calling for Fisher's head...

quote:

Execution, Not Play-Calling to Blame Fisher Says

Moments after FSU (5-1, 2-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) gave up 17 unanswered points during its own scoreless second half at Carter-Finley Stadium, Fisher said in his post-game press conference that he accepted much of the blame for the loss and should have been more aggressive as a play-caller in a game that featured many execution-related lapses. Monday afternoon at his weekly press conference, Fisher said that film study revealed it was just lack of execution -- and not the play-calling -- that led to his team's demise.

"Any time you're a leader you have to look at yourself first and say, 'Did I make the right call?'" Fisher said. "After seeing the video, [NC State] was in what we thought they were in, doing exactly what we thought they were doing. It's not blame. We just didn't execute. It's not the same guy. It's just one guy. A guy can grade 88 percent in a game and have two bad plays that happen to be at the wrong time.
