They didn't throw ball but 10-15 per game in those days, so 47 consecutive games with a TD is amazing!

Congrats to Drew!

Sorry, but Unitas' record was the more impressive one. There are major differences in the game today compared to the 1960's. That can't be denied.

Why didn't Manning or Brady break it? Maybe because Brees is a notch better on a team with fewer stars than the Colts or Patriots.

Obviously, you were not around then or have dementia! Unitas was not chucking the ball 40-50 times a game like Brees.

At what point, just so I know, is Drew Brees' record more impressive than Unitas?

55 straight? 60? 75? 100?

I'd say about 76.

I heard one of the announcers last night say that Tom Brady was just about to break Drew's consecutive touchdown record. Never mind that he is a full 10 games behind, which is more then half a season, and that assumes that drew will not throw a TD next game. I think he continues the streak for at least 20 more games and sets a record that might never be broken.

Does it really matter how many times they throw the ball (i mean back then or today)? They really only need to attempt one pass for a TD and complete it to start or continue the streak.

Namath use to chuck the ball often. Marino and others also. Drew's record id legit.

Until Brady throws 48 consecutive TD he hasn't done anything. For example, if next week Brady doesn't get a TD does Drew's accomplishment all of a sudden become better? Until someone else throws for 48 the record is just a legit as Unitis' was!

if the league is so different now then why didn't Brady, Farve, Manning, Young, Marino and other greats break the record already

I games started over his career, Unitas averaged 28 attempts per game. Brees is averaging 36 attempts per game started. Thanks for playing.

No he's not. Back then everyone ran so defenses were all about stopping the run. The game hadn't evolved yet, so players and defenses weren't as skilled and practiced to stop the pass. I would argue that now with all the technology to scout teams and the complex defensive schemes used to stop the pass that it is harder today. Also, think how hard it is when the other team knows you are passing, back then the played run.

Mike and Mike are even more insufferable when they have Ditka on. They each get giddy and over-laugh at everything he says.

It's no guarantee Brady will break the record either if Brees falters, in a high scoring game Brady threw 1 TD pass. The Pats are becoming more of a balanced team now,

You cannot break a long standing record in sports without someone bitching about the newer player having the advantage of better equipment or scheduling or the changes in the racial makeup of the teammates or changes in the rules.
