Generation kill.
It's amazing. On par with the pacific in my opinion, not saying its better but it's not worse.
Plus it's short (I think 7 hour long episodes). So it should be watched before you get caught up in something more time consuming like Sopranos.

I actually have this on DVD....got it real cheap last year and couldn't pass it up. I love all of David Simon's other work (The Corner, The Wire, Treme) so I'm sure I'll enjoy this.

It's much better than Band of Brothers. Doesn't have all of the fake cheesy shite. By far the best representation of being in the marines, for better and worse.

It may be a better depiction of marine life but I think BoB is ultimately a better show. The truth isn't necessarily better entertainment. It's in the same category as BoB but I don't think it's by any means better.

I just finished watching this last night. I came away pretty impressed. I'd love to know how factually accurate Evans account of this was. I'm gonna assume its pretty close.
I think they did a good job of showing the USMC suffers from a lot of the same problems as most workplaces; ie unqualified people running the show, too much CYA, etc. But I thought they did a great job of showing some damn good soldiers, like the LT and Iceman.
I have to say, the last interview between Godfather and Evan completely caught me off guard. Changed my entire opinion of Godfather. Leadership can be sneaky.
