I just got an email from Obama for fundraising. His first line: "I hope I made you proud last night." Yep, Mr. President. You made me really proud.

Obama in other words: "Romney wasn't supposed to come onto the stage and confront me about the misrepresentations, half-truths and lies I've been spouting about his stance on various issues. That's disrespectful! I'm the President! The President! He's not supposed to call me out! He's supposed to be cowed and defensive! He changed the game! It's his fault I got hammered in the debate, not mine!"

No. No it isn't. He has constantly said that he wants to lower marginal rates while eliminating deductions and credits. The effective rate will stay essentially the same but will save millions on compliance and accounting costs.

Obama had nothing last night, he couldn't respond because he didn't have a teleprompter...today, he's back on track because he's reading what someone else wrote...

Let's take a look at Mitt Romney's 57 point plan for the economy, which was published in, and on his website since, early 2011.
quote:
In the long run, Mitt Romney will pursue a conservative overhaul of the tax system that includes lower and flatter rates on a broader tax base. The approach taken by the Bowles-Simpson Commission is a good starting point for the discussion. The goal should be a simpler, more efficient, user-friendly, and less onerous tax system. Every American would be readily able to ascertain what they owed and why they owed it, and many forms of unproductive tax gamesmanship would be brought to an end. Conversely, tax reform should not be used as an under-the-radar means of raising taxes. Where reforms that simplify the code or encourage growth have the effect of increasing the tax burden, they should be offset by reductions in marginal rates. Washington’s problem is not too little revenue, but rather too much spending.

I like how he waits until after the debate when Mitt can't go back after him to say these things. Why didn't he say them last night and see what Mitt would have to say about it?

Somebody needs to tell the president the debate is over. He lost, but just like a liberal he now want's to try and rewrite history.

some more:
quote:
BIG BIRD 12:41:47 When he was asked what he'd actually do to cut the deficit and reduce spending, he said he'd eliminate funding for public television. 12:41:58 I mean, thank goodness somebody is finally getting tough on Big Bird. 12:42:07 It's about time. We didn't know that Big Bird was driving the federal deficit, but that's what we heard last night. How about that? Elmo too? 12:42:26 Look, the fact is, Governor Romney's math just doesn't add up. 12:42:32 And I had to spend a lot of time last night trying to hit it down. The only way to pay for $5 trillion in new tax cuts and $2 trillion in new defense spending that the military says it doesn't need is by asking the middle class to pay more. *** ROMNEY/FOREIGN POLICY 12:45:26 It'll be interesting to see what the guy who was playing Mitt Romney yesterday will say about foreign policy when we meet next. Because he said it was tragic to end the war in Iraq.

what amazed me the most is when Romney continuously nailed him over and over on the 716 billion out of Medicare, Obama said nothing...no rebuttal...nothing.

I'm pretty sure the Solyndra deal was a Bush thing. Besides that, Solyndra received only a small fraction of the money, and I believe most of the investments are doing quite well. I guess I don't understand the point. Should all energy investments go to teachers instead?

Wow what a brazen lie.
quote:
"The precipitous withdrawal is unfortunate. It's more than unfortunate. I think it's tragic. It puts at risk many of the victories that were hard-won by the men and women who have served there. I hope the risk is not realized. I hope instead that the Iraqis are able to pick up the baton, and despite the fact that we will have walked away on a too-rapid basis.".... "President Obama’s astonishing failure to secure an orderly transition in Iraq has unnecessarily put at risk the victories that were won through the blood and sacrifice of thousands of American men and women," Romney wrote on Oct. 21, 2011. "The unavoidable question is whether this decision is the result of a naked political calculation or simply sheer ineptitude in negotiations with the Iraqi government."
quote:
I'm pretty sure the Solyndra deal was a Bush thing.
I am 1000000% certain you are factually incorrect. The Bush administration refused, multiple times, to give Solyndra taxpayer money
