And if UK has to vacate, we still remember their dominance. We remember Reggie Bush's Heisman. We remember Ryan Mallett throwing a pick in the last few minutes against Ohio St. in the Sugar Bowl and tOSU finally breaking through against an SEC team. The point I'm making is that we acknowledge the win and follow it up with a statement like, "...but they had to vacate it because of <insert reason here>."

I think you're wrong. People love controversy more than what happens on the court/field, especially in retrospect. At this point, when people think of Bush's Heisman I'd say more remember the scandal than what he did on the field. You're obviously mistaken if you think that more people remember OSU's win over Arkansas rather than the drama that followed it.

If Kentucky gets busted for violations and/or paying Anthony Davis then that will be the story that follows that team, not the championship run. Cal will already be in the NBA at that point though.

A fair point, but you can't separate the result from the scandal. I'm not saying that more people remember the win than the scandal, it's that the two go hand-in-hand. In the case of Kentucky and Anthony Davis, or Marcus Camby, or Derrick Rose, people might remember that scandal might have followed them, but they'll also remember a Final Four run, a championship game, a championship win, and two #1 picks and a #2 pick. And success in the league. The last two parts are especially meaningful to recruits if the current trends in recruiting are to be believed.

Besides, how do the players REALLY suffer? They move on and reap the benefits.
