Friend of mine kept his preorder and was playing it last night. He loved RE4 and RE5, but he sent me a text about 10:00 that just said "frick this shite" and I knew the game had lost him forever.

TBH, I thought Resident Evil 1 and Zero on the gamecube were the best games of the series. Those games were intense, and the graphics were stellar for the time.

This series has definitely left behind those of us who loved how the first couple scared the hell out of us. This inspires me...

I typically don't pay attention to critics of any kind for any reason.

But if like minded gaming individuals who I know personally or the GB opinions (that I actually GAFA) say "don't buy" I usually take notice.

The demo was a huge eye opener for me. There are some aspects that looked promising but the camera angle and overall change in RE gameplay were enough for me to cancel my pre order on Monday.
This series, while it may appeal to the "masses" now, is dead to me.

long live the pivot turn and run and creaking door loading screens!

I'll probably wait til it's like $20 to check it out. Shouldn't be long by the looks of it

I used to love this game. My favorite is probably the remake on the gamecube.

I actually bought the console strictly for this. Only time ever.

This dumpster fire of a game is down to a .4 userscore on metacritic

Even d3 has a 3.7

Gw2 is 8.3

Also a 90 critic score...highest on metacritic currently for PC

Well hell. I was planning on going to get this game today after work, but everyone is slamming it hard (not just on here).

I'm a pretty casual xbox player. I'm looking for a good campaign / story mode / single player game. I like shooting and violence, and I don't mind something scary. What recommendations y'all got?

The last few games I've played:
--Max Payne
--Dead Island
--LA Noire
--CoD games

The game just drags a lot at times. If you were about to go buy it then do not change your mind. I own it and I'm still in the first chapter. If you are on Xbox we can co op

Everyone says Borderlands 2 is great. I've played one and I loved it. A lot of people play multiplayer on it, but you can play single player and it's still a lot of fun. I only played single player through the whole game. Assassin's Creed 3 comes out at the end of the month. Supposed to be really good.

If you want shooting, violence, and scares, pick up Dead Space 1 and 2. Dead Space 1 is one of the few games I've played where I would legitimately get freaked out while playing it. There were times where I would just have to quit for a while just so I could take a mental break.

You need to play from the beginning of DS1. The story is actually pretty damn good too. Plus, DS3 is coming out soon.

If you have never played Gears of War, that trilogy is an awesome 3rd-person shooter with a pretty damn good story and characters. Bloody as hell.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution offers a great story with multiple pathways you can choose from. I'd recommend it.

I would definitely recommend Borderlands 2 to anyone. The game is fricking fantastic. Its violent and funny. It has great characters and a good story too. It also offers 4 player co-op, but single player is also fun. I've only played through the campaign once with single player.

Fallout 3 is fun if you want an open world RPG. Futuristic post-apocalyptic storyline. I never played Fallout: New Vegas, so I can't give you my opinion on it.

Mass Effect 1 and 2 are both good, but its my personal opinion that you should stop after ME2. ME3 will only disappoint you.

The Halo franchise is always a good one to look into if you never played them. Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, and Halo 3 have a good storyline. I actually really enjoyed Halo 3: ODST, although others didn't. Halo: Reach was a little disappointing. Also, Halo 4 is dropping soon.

Red Dead Redemption is a must play if you haven't already. It is an RPG set in a western world. Just think of Grand Theft Auto crossed with The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Fun game.

Another game series is Bioshock. Although I haven't extensively played the series, I hear really good things about it.

A few other honorable mentions would be F.E.A.R., the earlier Splinter Cells, the Hitman series,

Well, that covers shooters. If you want any other genre, just ask.

IMO Bioshock has the best storyline I've witnessed in a game.

shite just gets intense when you find out what's really going on and who you really are.

Awesome. Thanks for the pointers, Scruffy.

I think Dead Space may be one I try out. I've heard a lot of good things. I may get Red Dead if I can find it used cheap.

I tried New Vegas but just never really got into it (I played it after Skyrim).

I did enjoy the Gears of Wars games, but I really like playing those with co-op.

I never got into Mass Effect or Bio Shock but watched a bit of my college roommate play them when they came out.

I'm sure I will still buy it in a few months when it is $19.99, but I wasn't impressed at all with most of the demo.
