I'm the same. I don't mind them, but don't go out of my way to listen to them. I get the folk rock scene and I really like some of those bands like Fleet Foxes and The Head and the Heart, but this band just doesn't do it for me.

I actually agree with a redneck hippie

after seeing them open for Flogging Molly on Austin City Limits I have sort of fallen off on my interest in them. Every song they did live sounded exactly the same. I still have interest but in small doses with this group.

While I don't completely agree, they do tend to have that problem of not too much variation in their music. I have the same problem with the Avetts. I started listening to them back in about 06/07 and had a roommate that was obsessed and after a while it all just kind of started sounding like two or three different songs they were playing over and over.

Really liked the first album. Haven't heard the new stuff, the problem is their sound is pretty restricting. You can listen to the whole album and not really know which song is which.

I will get this second album though, I really enjoyed the first.

Stick to their older tunes. Avett Bros have progressively gone down hill the more they release music. If you're into their sound, their older, folky stuff is a lot better than this new Carpenter shite

As for Mumford and Sons, someone said it earlier, you've got to be in the right mood. I like their music, but a lot of it does sound very similar. But if you're into good messages in songs and all they're your guys. It's funny that they're not a Christian band, per se, but have definite faith and religious undertones/inspirations but the mainstream world doesnt push them away. Like they don't realize it or something.

But no, they're not bad. Just sound the same a lot

Really liked them at first; they sucked in concert. They're still alright, but I cooled on them after that shite show.

I cooked out with a buddy last week. We listened to avett and mumford's new albums. The Avett album started and I said, "let's listen to the new one." I had only listened to it once at that time. He was like, "this is track 1 of the new album." I'm like "shite, it already sounds old."

I like the Carpenter. There are 6 or so songs that range from good to great. 3 or so songs are average. A couple of them suck.

Were you an Avett fan from way back? Or recently?

Because the Carpenter is straight garbage (save 3-4 songs) compared to some of their older stuff

"Babel" is a solid album. I think I like it slightly more than "Sigh No More."
