Hit the panic button on Mettenberger

Hit the panic button on Mettenberger....BIG TIME issues with our QB.
Poor accuracy (very concerning)
Poor awareness (concerning) can't read a corner blitz to save his life
Poor ball security (extremely concerning)
Staring down receivers (will cause INTs vs. SEC teams)
Poor leadership qualities
All of these points have to be addressed for the offense to take off. Whether it was the media and fans overhyping the kid or my own personal belief that Mett could be the "missing link" to a balanced, unstoppable offense, expectations for this kid have to be readjusted. Instead of thinking Mett could win us a few games with his arm (if need be), we have to go to the "game manager" mode. Hope that he can make enough throws to keep the team semi-balanced while not making the glaring mistakes (turnovers).
I will say, however, Mett is not getting any help from the coaches. The offense is predicably vanilla with little imagination. With the abundance of skill talent on offense, you would think the staff could figure out a few mismatches out there. Instead, the Tigers run two man routes with no dump-off outlet. Gotta get creative to help the kid out!!!
And I know folks will chime in about the line.....a valid point. Faulk is missed and the line as a whole has to do better.....but there were times last night where Mett had 3-4 seconds to throw, yet couldn't hit his target against inferior competition. Not good.
Maybe the step up in competition will do good for the Tigers and Mettenberger. A little more focus might be just what the doctor ordered......or we could be in for a long conference stretch.

He's still 1000 times better than what Lsu had the last 4 years

Hit the panic button on the Les, Stud, Kragthorpe offense while you're at it.
Les Studthorpe sucks as an OC.

Doesn't matter

Receivers could at least run a hitch and go route, the defensive backs were playing up close in the their hip pockets!...Receivers need to do a better job of separating on their routes...

But what is this really saying??? You could pretty much say this:
Insert college or high school QB name here>>>>>>>>>>>Last Year's QB's
and be just as accurate!!!!

Agreed. I can deal with a gunslinger if he makes plays. I can deal with a mediocre qb who doesnt turn it over. However mett has been mediocre and turned it over. The past three opponents were kept in the game due to his turnovers

"Staring down receivers" is a dumb talking point if you don't know anything else to say. LSU rarely has more than 2-3 receivers in a route. He's got to look somewhere. No need to scan the entire field when it's a two receiver route.

Not sure about that, but I'm hoping that Mett progresses enough to lead us to a good season and bowl game.
Go Mett!!!

Not every passing play was a two man route. Once things got tight, Mett locked in on his primary target. Go back and watch the game again....you'll see what I mean. This is a sin against better opponents....just ask Jarrett Lee.

Is he really though? They showed a stat on ESPN U saying our QB efficiency through 5 games last year was better then this year. And LEE and JJ did not have nearly as many fumbles or red zone turnovers. It wasn't until tough SEC games that our QBs true colors started to show. We haven't hit those games yet. I'm not hitting the panic button but i don't see a way >>>>>>>>>>>>>> QB. Clown needs to stop worrying about his image and being a tool and worry about being an elite QB or no one will give a rats arse about him or his malestaberger stache.
