This is like defining a word using the word itself. There are only a handful of movies that won an Oscar for best picture that didn't deserve it and they were still good movies (see, e.g., Shakespeare In Love and The English Patient).

You responded to people who gave background and credence to an argument that action movies do, in fact, win Oscars on rare occasions. You responded by saying those movies were awful or terrible. And that was it.

The logical conclusion was that you attempted to troll. Thereafter, you gave a loose basis for your opinion and only after it was drawn out of you. Now you are being ridiculous, claiming that winning an Oscar is meaningless, that I'm trolling because I believe 2 universally acclaimed films are better than awful and terrible, and that I've been caught by you in my shenanigans. Yet again, you are an idiot.

To get back on topic, I will be seeing Looper. It looks awesome. Hopefully the time travel/alternate universe stuff is better explained than it was in Donnie Darko.

I think hindsight of Gladiator is very telling since no one had done a movie tackling that time period and story in 30 or so years, then after it came, it had such rousing success that several other movies likr "Troy" & "300" make that one look pedestrian to you now, JMHO

I went Fri night to see "End of Watch" (phenomenal) then "Looper" & I wasn't as overly impressed as I thought I'd be, 1st of all to toy with looping time travel etc like has been previously suggested in this thread, there are gaping holes. JGL is great, Willis is a little cold for the role honestly, but I think that is a proponent of us seeing Levitt who has a personality with his role, to the hardened criminal type role with Willis.

I am a fan of both actors IN THE RIGHT ROLE. The friend that set the whole story to tumbling (not sure what his name is, don't care) was a HORRIBLE actor, it was as if he thought he was acting in a lifetime movie SMDH

Thank you above poster for asking why wouldn't you prepare and bring the house and raise hell, you knew the exact day they were coming and it upset you enough to seek and destroy anyone responsible, and that is also the way the movie was sold in the previews, but in the actual movie the plot was already layed out & then navigated, so I had serious issue with the writing, directing was actually not bad.

All in all entertaining if you don't care about the overall plot, way more scifi than crime drama but it was ok

Yes, because anytime someone post a differing opinion to the hive they are called a troll and forced to support their claim or face being banned. You new here?

bullshite. Stop trolling.

That is in no way ridiculous. Oscars are usually given to Hollywood movies featuring popular actors with a large audience. That doesn't make these movies the best of the year or in anyway great. An Oscar is meaningless. Watch more movies and stop trolling.

I don't know for certain, and I haven't seen the movie yet, but in the previews it looks like they made JGL put blue contacts in to match Bruce Willis' eyes. Unfortunately, JGL has dark eyes and blue contacts on dark eyes look freaky as hell. They should have required Willis to wear the contacts, but everything I've ever heard about Willis is that it's pretty much everyone else who makes concessions to him rather than the other way around.

I find Gladiator and Braveheart to be two good, but not great, movies. I would have given the Oscar to Apollo 13 in 1995 and to Traffic in 2000. I *definitely* wouldn't have given the Oscar to Russell Crowe for Gladiator that year. Tom Hanks OWNED his role in Cast Away and should have been given his third Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role.

So, I'm guessing they made him up? My wife and I were thrown off...they got the nose right, but his mouth looked retarded...like how South Park tried to get the Matt Damon doll to look like Damon, but it came out looking like a retardDamon.

*Spoilers*

Did anyone else think the scene with the guy's limbs disappearing was one of the more disturbing/awesome scenes in the movie?

It was pretty gruesome, even with no blood being shown when the limbs were going. To see him end up as basically a nub was unreal.
