An executive with the New Orleans Hornets was detained by TSA agents at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey Friday, after they discovered a loaded handgun in his bag, according to a report in the New York Post.
The newspaper said that Hornets vice president Joshua Richardson was charged with one count of criminal possession of a weapon.

i don't know that i would call bring a loaded gun to an airport a "mistake." i'd call it extremely stupid.

He didn't know it was in there. He mistakenly grabbed his wife's bag. Not smart but not the worst I've seen.

Josh is a great guy and really good at what he does. This was a simple mistake any of us would have made.
They brought the gun with them when evacuating for Isaac, packing it in the inner pocket. When they for back they forgot to remove it from the inner pocket. This just happened to be the same suitcase he used for the trip.
He is obviously devestated and is working to get this off of his record.

I know him and his wife personally. Her name is Jessica. She is a dime.

Judging by some of these comments, the Hornets clearly have staff that post on TD.
I imagine if one those tatted up "thug" players made the same "mistake," sentiments would be a little different.

I usually don't even bring anything that I have to put in a plastic bag in my carry on. If it's a short trip, I'd rather just use hotel supplies, buy some extra, and mail stuff back if it's worth it.
Then, packing a gun on trip, loaded or not, is just not in my world. I can't say I can put myself in his shoes there.
Still, I this is as a TSA issue, not a Hornets issue. We shall see, regardless.
