Too early to really think about, but 2013 got me thinking

I thought this year was going to be "our year" the past 2 seasons. Just looking at our young players being so talented 2 years ago I figured for sure 2012 the stars would align. All those talented players would mature and we would finally have a competent QB. So far, so good (sans Mathieu being kicked off for the year) but most everyone expected us to be gutted after this season by the NFL. After seeing this year so far, I'm not as sure that's going to happen.
At first I was thinking Faulk, Reid, Montgomery, Mingo, Blue, Logan, Mathieu and even Mett with a great season would all leave.
So far we've lost Faulk, Blue and Mathieu for the year, so they will not go pro in 2013. Reid, Montgomery and Logan are the only ones so far who probably could/would declare, but only Montgomery IMO has played like he wants it entirely and cementing himself as a 1st rounder. We could only lose 1-2 juniors as it stands right now to the draft when most were thinking pre-season we could lose up to 8. With this in mind there's a great chance we could be bettering 2013, than this year...which is pretty crazy to me.
If we only lose Montgomery and possibly Reid (I think he's got the next best shot currently), check out the 2013 team and the leadership on it...
QB: SR. Zach Mettenberger
RB: SR. Alfred Blue (+ SR. Ware, SR. Ford, JR. Hilliard, SO. Hill)
FB: SR. J.C. Copeland
WR: SR. Kadron Boone (+ JR. Leslie, SR. Wright)
WR: JR. Odell Beckham Jr. (+ JR. Landry, rFR. Dural)
TE: JR. Nic Jacobs (+ JR. Dickson, SO. Gordon)
LT: SR. Chris Faulk (+ SR. Davenport)
LG: JR. La'El Collins (+ FR. Boutte)
OC: JR. Elliott Porter (+ ??????)
RG: SR. Josh Williford (+ SO. Turner)
RT: SO. Vadal Alexander (+FR. Pocic)
DE: JR. Jermauria Rasco (+ JR. Allen, JR. Maclin)
DT: SR. Bennie Logan (+ SO. Thomas, SO. M. Johnson)
DT: JR. Anthony Johnson (+ JR. Ferguson)
DE: SR. Barkevious Mingo (+ SO. Hunter)
OLB: SR. Lamin Barrow (+ SO. Jones, SO. Louis)
MLB: SR. Kevin Minter (+ SO. Feist)
OLB: SR. Luke Muncie (+ SR. Tahj Jones, SO. Alexander)
CB: SR. Tharold Simon (+ SO. Mills, FR. White)
S: SR. Craig Loston (+ SO. Thompson)
S: JR. Ronald Martin (+ SO. Eugene)
CB: JR. Tyrann Mathieu (+ SO. Collins, SO. Thomas)
That team looks to be better than the 1 we currently have, assuming all guys mentioned in the depth chart stay put.

All completely depends on the juniors. If we continue on our here like we have played, I could only see Montgomery and Reid leaving.

I can't wait to see Vadal next year with another year in the strength program
Porter might be an upgrade at C - offense ran better with him in during Auburn game

Not sure if serious...?
He was the direct cause of the fumble at the goal-line of Auburn. Not saying he can't be good, but Lonergan is definitely better right now.

Why would Mingo not leave? He is a top 10 pick.

Mingo is a top 5 pick, unless he has a career ending injury, he's gone and will get drafted high.

Mingo is most likely leaving.

bennie logan, mingo, and probably simon will all be gone

I'm talking from the viewpoint of how the players have played thus far and current situation. While I'm not saying Mingo has dipped off in talent by any means, his play this year hasn't resulted in near the same success as Montgomery. I HOPE he ramps it up, but he doesn't even have a sack this year yet. I'd find it hard to believe him go pro if he only gets 5 sacks or so this year.

No matter what Mingo does the rest of this year, he is a first round draft pick. He wont even play DE in the NFL. Hes an OLB
You obviously havent been paying attention.

Don't see it as of right now. He's not on the same caliber of Peterson or Claiborne. IF he left would he get picked? Absolutely, but I don't see 1st round in him yet.

Mingo gone for sure, I'm not so sure about Simon though

This is stupid to say. So if he has a very poor season and gets like 3 sacks he's a first round pick? Um, no.

Mingo gone for sure
The only ones hat are "for sure" so far as in how they've played is Montgomery and probably Reid. Mingo hasn't played up to his potential YET. I definitely think he ramps it up and leaves though...but there is always the possibility of him having a rough season too.

You are putting too much into sacks. Do you think that is the only thing they look at? A huge part of it is potential. Especially since Mingo wont play DE in the NFL
If Mingo sat out the rest of the year he would still be a top 15 pick.

This is simply delusional.

And if he's looked as a 3-4 jack LB sacks are even way more important...so bad point there. Mingo is not a big run stopper so sacks are very important part of his game. For him to be a 1st round pick, they want to see the sack/TFL production like he had last year and more-so.
