No, Mel Kiper is an NFL guy. He has a little more objectivity than the idiots that actualy cover college football for ESPN because he's looking at talent, not politics.

I don't agree with everything Mel Kiper says, and his focus is on how players project to the NFL. However, he has never demonstrated any bias against LSU - in fact, the opposite - I think players from LSU, sometimes get a bump in their draft stock merely by being in the LSU system.

While Herbstreit (as well as Holtz) has been more consistently anti-LSU than the average analyst (we've won Corso over, to a certain degree), even Herbie was a proponent of a 2-loss LSU team being in the big game in 2007. LSU fans need to be less thin-skinned and realize that the sports news business is far more about the entertainment aspect, and giving the people what they want (i.e. controversy), rather than a deeply held bias against a particular program.

It's supposed to be about fun. If we win the games, we shut them up (or convert them). If we lose, they were right all along. Just enjoy the ride.

Before the Washington vs Stanford game last night Kiper said that his National Championship was still LSU beating Florida State.

He also had Barkevious Mingo at #3 on his big board and Sam Montgomery at #4.

He said LSU struggling on the Plains doesn't matter. This early in the season all that matters is coming out with the W.
