Aliens is my favorite Alien movie, but to say it is the best is overlooking how incredible Alien was when it was released.

It's really close, but I think the addition of Sean Connery and more comedy is what puts it above Raiders for me.

So any movie in a series is a sequel? Are Scream 4 or Friday the 13th part 8 sequels?

I was always under the impression a sequel was just the 2nd. Not saying I'm right and you're wrong, that's just what I always thought.

Technically yes.

Temple of Doom is a prequel the Raiders and Last Crusade takes place after Raiders FWIW.
