bucket list trip

Hello Fellow Tiger fans.
My wife and I are coming from PA for the USC game on October 13. This is a bucket list item for us and we could use some help from you veteran fans.
A few of you helped me with advice on which tickets to buy ( we are in the lower bowl on the 10, opposite LSU's bench), and I could use your help again.
We are arriving Thursday night and staying at the
Bell of Baton Rouge until Sunday. We picked this location mainly because it was close enough to walk to the game ( I did not want to mess with the traffic since I do not know my way around at all).
We were really hoping this would be a night game, but I cannot imagine CBS won't pick the game up and make it a 2:30 kickoff.
We have never been to Baton Rouge, much less an LSU game, and we would like to experience the culture of a game weekend, as much as the game.
Can a few of you give me some advice on places where LSU fans congregate on Friday, and maybe some of the LSU traditions we should look for on game day?
Any help or advice from my fellow Tiger fans is greatly appreciated.
I can't describe how much we are looking forward to coming to your part of the country to see the Tigers!!!

Take CAT (the bus) or I think there is a shuttle from Past Times....I wouldn't walk it.
Gameday, go to Chimes then hit the Indian Mounds

Don't attempt that walk! The belle should have busses and you can always catch a cab. You need to catch the team and the band coming down between the Assembly Center and the stadium, and there are several websites that advertise this schedule on Saturday, usually 2-3 hours before kickoff. Depending on your age, Walkon's is great and host a post game radio call in show. TJ Ribs is great, but another cab ride for you. Right under the bridge is Passtimes a great poboy experience. This site should have numerouse suggestions. Geaux Tigers

Anywhere near campus,
Walk-ons or The Chimes for a restaurant (Chimes has better beer)
Downtown if you want bars (also nearer the Belle)

We are both 50.
I will definitely find transportation.
The web site for the Belle advertises it as less than a mile and and a half from Tiger stadium, but we will taxi or shuttle on all of your advice.
Thanks all of you. Any additional ideas are appreciated.

Plenty of places To go out and eat in downtown br. Don't walk it from downtown. Take the shuttle from north blvd town square. Chimes is a must. Tj ribs is nasty jmo

Do Not make that walk. Walking between the downtown and the LSU campus is not exactly the safest place.
There will be some buses running between the Belle and campus. Best to get a ride.

Waaaaaaaay too long of a walk that you especially don't want to make after the game at night time

I am in the middle of Penn State Country here in PA. At PSU, there is what they call the Student Bookstore right near Beaver stadium. This is where they have all of the home teams gear and other souveniers.
Does LSU have something similar near the stadium?

There's an LSU gear store right across from the stadium next to Mike's cage.

Glad yall are coming down...good choice not to try that walk (you'll understand.when you see it)...the only two hotels I would walk from would be the staybridge on Nicholson and the cook hotel...
There are a couple of places on campus to get souvineers...one is right by the stadium and the other is the student union beside the parade grounds...
Honestly, baton rouge is not really a public transit kind of place, so you may want to rent a car if you want to get off campus at all...
If you want barbecue, try TK ribs, which is full of LSU regalia (like Shaquille's tennis shoes, Pete maravitch's jersey, etc)....
If you want some good, authentic Cajun food try parrain's...that is my lunch time spot when I get into town...
Agree with everyone else about the chimes....great eating and just off campus...
Check out the tiger cage on Friday and get your bearings around campus...on Saturday, watch the players and the band come down victory hill...also try to get into the stadium 45 minutes early to see the entire ore game...
