Recap:
-Auburn with their backs against the wall had a strong game plan and played extremely well. I gotta give them credit for playing an emotional game and stepping up.
-we handle them much more efficiently if we don't make mistakes and play sloppy...I attribute it to youth and some guys that aren't completely comfortable in their position right now. We have some things to fix, we're looking forward to it.
-Fumble at goal line, easy fix, due to young guy at center and cadence
-QB plays very key role in game, plays well. But he cannot turn it over in the pocket, though. That's our ball and our QB has to hold onto it.
-plenty to fix, need to clean up some stuff, team looking forward to doing that
-special teams: wing wants one punt back but had three key punts....drew was rushed on FG, penalty called, Auburn decides to decline penalty, and we have to hurry the kick...drew makes that kick if not rushed IMO
-Penalty reviews: calls were legitimate calls...will speak to head of officials today and get his view. Our guys have to recognize how the game is going to be officiated and in several instances they were good clean honest mistakes. Unfortunate position that the retaliation sometimes get the penalty. Most weren't egregious fouls. No cheap shots. Great learning experience for our players...we can't give opponent 80 yards.
-Sam Dlineman of week in SEC. Big plays. Played well in first half, even better in second half. At halftime, he stepped up in the locker room. Great leadership, great year, expect it to continue.
-don't turn the ball over twice, had opportunity to maybe distance ourselves from opponent. No reason to change our offense.
-receivers are improving, but its a work in progress....key in several instances, and in other instances can play better. Gotta give credit to opponent as well, they covered some routes.
-Offensive Tackles/Presuure: Absolutely concerned with getting into our backfield....One was a miscommunication with the back, we're going to make our tackles more aware, I think we can fix it
-Turnovers/Penalties: Good news is our team understands the position we are in, and if they want to win, then they are going to have to fix that. Frankly, this is not a new conversation....ball security is going to be the first thing on the practice schedule every week, nothing new there. There is no personal liberty here, this is a must. This is nothing new to the team, it just needs to be adressed more specifically.
-Like RB ball security, Wilson has good regimen of ball security we follow week-in-week-out
-Luke Muncie getting better and better....virus right now, nothing too serious
-no aversion to collins at LT....we like our starting lineup the way it is right now, want him to get comfortable where he is, we like him there. josh d is fine...If there is a point in time a move needs to be made, we could make it, but we like him where he's at
-what we're doing offensively, the things we're asking Zach to do, he can do....Besides protection issues, we're working on that. It's not just him, it's offensive lines, back, playcalls...we've got to address the issue and we're doing that
-Lavar was blocking for interception return,
-Potential to be very good offensive line long-term. Don't want to disrupt the entire offensive line with change.
-The 1-yard-line fumble, that playcall is going to be called again and again and again...that was not the QB's mistake. Red zone turnovers thus far are not going to change our playcalls going forward
-Ware catch was maybe most significant play of the game
-We wanted to win the game on 3rd down, which is why we took the timeout before 3rd down. Game's over if we get first down, thought we had a good 3rd down call.
-Drew would have never missed that if he had not been rushed....Penalty+Decision eats some play clock, ran FG team out onto the field and be hurried....No penalty=routine event send FG team out like normal. Penalty cost us some valuable time

Can anyone provide some of the various wise quotations from Les at this PC at intervals? At work
Posted on 9/24/12 at 12:31 pm to tigerfan in bamaland
There he is...
Auburn played well.
We were sloppy.
The defense saved our arse.
Plenty to fix.
Mentioned rushing alleman on the missed FG.
Towson...quality opponent, used to winning.
Get all our practices unlike last week.

I like CLM but I hate that statement

We should have finished first by more than 2 points against Auburn.

paraphrasing:
Q: Have you reviewed the tape and looked at the penalties?
CLM: no cheap shots for the most part...some of the personal fouls are from people trying to get guys off the pile
Q: How about the play of Sam Montgomery?
CLM: PLayed well, he addressed the team at halftime told the team to come with him and play tough the rest of the game.
Q:How much step back was this game offensively? How do you correct? Was the deliberate change after the second fumble?
CLM: no change. PLayed field position.....missed a fair bit of this answer.
Q:Address WRs
CLM: WRs played well in some spots, can get better
Q: concern about OTs?
CLM: Absolutely. Twice was miscommunication with RB. I think we can fix the problems.
Q: concerned with turnovers?
CLM: team understands the position they are in. if they want to win, they need to fix it. ball security is constantly discussed and addressed. need better awareness on the field.

Think Josh is going to be fine
If a change needs to be made, doesn't sound like it will be Collins.

Les thinks the oline is "fine". wow
Posted on 9/24/12 at 12:48 pm to ruger
And there it is.
Miles thinks Josh D is "just fine" at LT.

Q: speak to RBs not fumbling
CLM: expect the RBs to continue to secure the ball.
Q: muncie tweet about being at doctor. think he is getting comfortable in his position?
CLM: likes Muncie's play. Muncie has a virus.
Q:LB play has been good. Minter and Barrow playing sideline to sideline.
CLM: really likes Minter as a mike lb. Barrow is playing more assignment aware and more veteran. Both had great games.
Q: Lael Collins aversion to having him at LT
CLM: we like the starting lineup. Josh D. will be fine. We like Collins at Guard.
Q: Assess Mett's performance. pull reigns back a bit?
CLM: liked leadership at back end of the game. likes his play. he can do the things we need him to do.
Q: Edwards PF?
CLM: We will look at it. Impossible for Edwards to know that Muncie was tackled. Was a legal block just bad timing maybe.
Q: No changes to OL?
CLM: try to improve the lineup the way it is but not closed to changes.
CLM: expect the RBs to continue to secure the ball.

our o-line is not fine. They looked bad against the pass for North Texas also. This is bullshite
Posted on 9/24/12 at 12:52 pm to Papa Tigah
Change would not come with shifting the whole line around. Likes the way it is now and thinks it is our best long term.
Posted on 9/24/12 at 12:52 pm to tigerfan in bamaland
talks about Mett needs to protect ball, but make great plays also and gret leadership. Team played competitively in the back end of the game. showed grit. plenty to fix, but quality team. clean up some stuff. special teams nice game, 1 punt Wing wanted back. Drew Alleman had a short clock because the opponent took some time to decide if they wanted to accept a penalty. Wont happen again.
Towson used to winning, quality program, blah blah coach talk. Get a Monday practice this week so it will help us "gameplan".
evaluate penalties? the 15 yarder?
legit calls on the field on the 15 yard penalty on Fruge. Good clean honest mistakes. Several times getting a guy off another guy. pulling people off of their teammate.
Sam M., have you seen him grow mentally
had a safety, got defensive player of the week. played well in 1st half, better in the second. vocal during halftime, telling guys to step up. Great leader
How much step back offensively? correct it? Was their a decision to change things after second fumble
put 350 yds on opponent. stayed with the plan.
comment on WR's
thinks receivers are improving, work in progress. key in instances, but made some drops. They will play better
concerned about OT giving up sacks
absolutely, wants to address problem. Make our tackles more aware. thinks we can fix it :omg:
how much of a concern are turnovers
team understands position theyre in. they have to fix turnovers. ball security is practiced every practice.
RB's havent put ball on the ground
We count on RBs to run with ball security. Ware and ford and hilliard run with ball security. its what they expect
Luke Muncie tweeted he was at the Dr.
thinks he has a virus. dont expect to be too serious
LB corp; kevin minter
thinks barrow and minter stepped up big in that game. Thinks Minter is tremendous Mike backer, mastered tecn
La'el to tackle?
no aversion to it, but think they have a good lineup. wants to keep him at guard. thinks Josh D will do fine :omg:
assess Zach performance
thinks he can play extremely well. showed leadership. things they ask him to do, he does. will keep getting better. can make all the throws.
question about penalties
same shite. could have been when a whistle was blown..
no changes in offensive line?
didnt say that. but says there will be improvement. pretty much didnt rule out change. not showing his cards.
how can you step up the recognition of the blitz
made a traffic stop analogy. dudes are asking the same question in different ways. he is getting generic.
