will Sauron (Necromancer) make an appearance in the 3rd movie.
that's all a want, some significant White Council/Necromancer scenes. well that and an epic battle of the five armies

Here's a list of the deleted scenes that made neither the theatrical or extended release:

Grrr. i love that scene and really wanted more

Aragorn having his armour fitted during the preparations for the Battle of the Black Gate. This was the final scene filmed during principal photography
very Illiad-like

Sauron fighting Aragorn at the Black Gate. A computer-generated Troll was placed over Sauron due to Jackson feeling the scene was inappropriate. Sauron is also seen in a beautiful form as Annatar, Giver of Gifts.
PJ deserves to be slapped over this cut

They also filmed a lot of crap with Liv Tyler at the Battle of Helm's Deep but had that subplot completely cut out due to fan reaction being so negative that death threats were sent to Tyler.

Why? That was totally inappropriate to be in the movie.

so were many other things but i and many others really wanted to see Sauron back in his body and fighting

i can understand the Annatar thing seeing as how the average fan hasn't read the Silmarillion

Sauron fighting at the Black Gate would have been 10X more a travesty then the surfing elf.

And, you should see Annatar in this series.

Will this happen for sure?

You think the battle of the five armies could top Helm's deep or the final battle in ROTK?

PJ has all but said it will.

It could. I have a feeling he's going to want to top it.

If all this happens why do people keep thinking it will be a kid type movie. It will darker than people think.

i'm thinking Helm's Deep will be the most ominous. ROTK will be the grandest in scale. 5 Armies will the the most exciting.

i doubt it tops Helm's Deep for me though

He was basically a second level angel originally that followed the fall of "God's" most powerful angel (think right hand of Satan). he could change forms. he disguised himself as a beautiful elf in order to grow closer to the ancient elven lords. his beauty and crafting skills eventually won over the elves. he tricked them into forging great rings. When God sunk the city of Numenor (think Atlantis), Sauron (as Annatar) when down with it. He floated away from the destruction as a spirit never again able to assume any form other than a terrible lord.

Sounds badass
What book was this in? sounds like something from the appendices. You saying this could make the movie?

it's from the Silmarillion. you would love it. i think it's the best book of the whole collection and the least read.

Shadeaux thinks some aspect of it will. if i had to guess, i would think some flashback of Sauron as Annatar in prison in Numenor convincing the elven craftsmen to let him show them his crafting talents.

the Silmarillion takes you from the creation story through the elves, men and dwarves origins, their wars with each other and with the evil powers up until the breaking of the world and if i remember correctly, a little of the time period where the LOTR movies kick in

That's what I was thinking before you said it. I've heard amazing things about this. I heard it's different from the the Hobbit and LOTR though?

How would you explain the Silmarillion to someone thinking about reading it.

eta: Has anyone read all the appendices BTW?

Epic back-story. Tons of Places and characters to follow. Written more like a history book. Too big to make into a movie.

I'm just glad they finally got around to making this thing. For a while, it looked like key actors would drop out or that it wouldn't be made at all.
