2005 USC? Come on, even USC fans admit the D was bad. They gave up 42 to Fresno and FSU threw 4 or 5 ints. That was not a good D. Now the 2003 and 2008 teams? Those were great D's. 2008 D was sick. I'd put it right there with Bama last year.

They played 9 of the top 35 scoring offenses(5 on the road 1 neutral) that year including 6 of the top 12 and held every team below their average except Fresno.

It doesn't matter if you have the greatest D ever you are going to give up points against that schedule

Texas averaged 50.9 points a game. They scored 41 on USC - not a championship D when you only allow 9 points less than their average...they scored 42 on Colorado and 45 on Oklahoma.

Verlander is kinda right though...'05 USC played 7 teams than ranked in the Top 25 of Scoring Offense in 2005.
