'05 USC defense gave up on average...21.3 points and 344.7 yards per game. Usually didn't matter because they averaged 50 points and 580 yards per game.

Too bad they went up against Texas who also averaged 50 points and over 500 yards a game.

USC's O by and large did their job in the title game...scoring 38 points and they had more yards (574) than Texas (so USC hit their average) and time of possession...but USC had 1 extra turnover (Bush lateral - momentum killer) and the D couldn't save the day at the end.

You can't always play perfect on offense and when they didn't the USC D wasn't up to the task saving the day.

2005 USC? Come on, even USC fans admit the D was bad. They gave up 42 to Fresno and FSU threw 4 or 5 ints. That was not a good D. Now the 2003 and 2008 teams? Those were great D's. 2008 D was sick. I'd put it right there with Bama last year.
