Which Tiger, from 1995ish on, could you see as a future coaching candidate for the Tigers?

Frank Wilson.. I know that doesn't meet your criteria but he should be the head coach in waiting, without the title tho, those things never work out

I think Ryan Clark would be a good coach and a great recruiter.

Head coach or just position? Head Coach I'd say Faulk. OC I'd go with Clayton. DC, Clark or Bradie.

Mickey Guidry...he carried a clipboard long enough here to pick a few things up.

All joking aside, Mauck was mentioned but he's been out of football too long.

I think Alan Faneca would make a superb position coach coming in and could develop into an OC and HC down the line. He's got the knowledge of the game and more NFL experience than just about any former Tiger in that age group. If I'm not mistaken, he's got the longest NFL tenure of any Tiger.

Any of our guys coaching in FBS or the NFL?

Wilkerson has the temperment and attitude and has already interned at LSU. I don't know if he wants to stay on the sidelines or get into management, but he certainly has the potential (but we're ways off - Big Ben isn't even 30).

If a player ends up coaching, the high percentage positions are QB, OL, FB/TE and LB. No QB leaps to mind (Herb Tyler, maybe) - OL Wilkerson, Reed, T-Bob, just a number of guys who might end up coaching. FB/TE - Hester the obvious choice. LB Bradie James, maybe. I don't even know if any of these, other than Big Ben, have aspirations to coach at any level.

None! That's how programs get ruined. It's hard enough to pick a great coach when you have the whole world to choose from. It gets significantly harder when you limit it to former LSU players!

Our best two hires ever were non-LSU people. It seems like if we're going to have an LSU criteria it would be: anyone who has played for LSU is ruled out. In that way we could focus on people like Chavis, Les, and Saban.
