Not bad, America. I like Amanda Brown but I do like Nicholas more. And as much as I would've liked to have seen Trevin go home, he's still really good.
In really surprised Nicholas is still getting America's votes...we all wondered if they would relate to him enough. But I'm glad he's still here.
And awesome "creepy uncle hug," Carson. Way to scare Melanie's parents half to death.

I think his sound is what's keeping him going. While Melanie had some moments during "Criminal", I expected more from her. Nick, on the other hand, carried the song. She seemed like she was up there doing a job while he seemed like he was having angry sex with the song.

really? that was probably my favorite performance by melanie of the whole competition. nick of course killed it but i really did enjoy melanie's addition to the song also

Just watched. I'm fine with the last 4. Sorry, Hat, but when Nicholas and Amanda were standing there, I thought about it and in spite of what Saint Nick did last night, I wanted to hear more from him. Mainly, I wanted to see what he would do next. I think they're going to force him to bring it home next week if he wants to stay. I want to see that. Amanda, not so much.
And, I hate to admit it, but Christina was right about Melanie singing that song. If she'd done that last night, she might have made it to the final 4. She looked a lot better as Audrey Hepburn than she does as Alice in Wonderland. The song with Nick was her best performance for me. Too little too late, though.

THIS. I never thought someone who has been overmatched vocally by the competition every single week would make it this far in a singing show. Back to the coffee houses for her. About damn time.

Sucks that Amanda went home as she was my favorite but oh well. I like the top 4 still.

My wife and I laugh at him every show. She will rewind it a few times to watch how akward he is. He makes the goofiest damn faces and acts like he has sooo much riding on this. Terry and Cass are by far my favorites. I wouldnt buy any music from the others. Just my taste I guess. I dont really like Nicholas or Amanda. They can sing, but I wouldnt go out of my way to hear them. Terry on the other hand is flat out awesome.

With a good band behind them Terry and Cass can do something. I like Nicholas. Dont know if I would ever buy his music. He seems more like a guy I would just enjoy watching perform live if that makes any sense. I can see Amanda getting in a Grace Potter and the Nocturnals type of band to fully showcase the range she has. She sang 2 of their songs during the show and sounded great.

Here's my problem with Melanie.
I like her, and her whole schtick. I like her voice.
But, she does not know how to project her voice into the microphone live. Too whispery.
She is the kind of singer that would do great in the studio.
That being said, Nicholas is the man.

Yep. Dont know if she doesnt know how or she cant really project. Her voice to me just isnt all that great.

I'm not sure any of them are going to be stars or put out best selling albums. I just like hearing them sing. Honestly, I think Cass and Terry have the best chance of going somewhere. Trevin might have an outside chance, but that's a big maybe.
I think American Idol has the most success with producing stars or semi stars and not all of those folks make it either. Of course, the show has been around longer. I'm curious about how the X Factor folks will turn out. I saw that young girl from last season on a float in the Macy's parade and she's gotten a job with Nick. She's the only one I know of with any big success, though.

i REALLY hope that carly rose gets handled correctly after the show. i think she has a chance to be the most successful of all past contestants on any show. the control she has over her voice for 13 is magical.

I agree with you, on Carly Rose. I think she'll get picked up no matter what.
I thought Josh would go bigger than he has, but I think he's still doing gigs. Might be recording, but I don't know how successful that's been. Even if they aren't stars, I would think most of them are better off after these shows. The price goes up for them to perform at the very least.
