I honestly believe that a 17 year old unwed meth-head mother of three is in charge of the piped-in music/atrocity/ear bleeding torture at the LSU games.

I'm not sure if I'm watching an LSU football game or at a WFMF rejected-song-playlist party.

Please,I beg you, put an adult with a basic knowledge of and appreciation for music, in charge.
You can still do multi-genre's, I understand the need to do rap/country/metal/pop assorted stuff, but for the love of a merciful and loving God, you don't have to pick the worst three songs from every genre.

Heartily agreed.

They stop us from playing good songs because the student section puts "bad words" in them - and then they play songs that either have dubious lyrics or outright have uncensored curse words in them.

Won't anyone think of the children?!?!?!

I hadn't even thought of that.
The oral sex reference is the end of the civilizied world when the students make it, but OFICIALLY ENDORSED when the music guy plays it.

But leaving the content aside, how can a song that just objectively fails so hard be played so frequently ? And that's just ONE OF MANY truly shitty songs.

I think they need to put a MUSIC guy in charge of music. That low-budget crap they play now cheapens the joint. For a school that gets IMAGE BRANDING so well, I don't see how they don't understand this.

I wish they'd stop playing country music. It's bad enough I have to sit through Callin' Baton Rouge and Louisiana Saturday Night every game.

I'm all jacked up for the game and those songs bring me down a little bit before the band takes the field.

I'd be thrilled if we stopped playing "Calling Baton Rouge."

I think the piped-in music actually detracts from the enthusiasm of the crowd. Whether it's displacing TGBFT, or jumping in on top of a spontaneous crowd rendition of "GEAUX.....TIGERS!!!" or "LSU..LSU..LSU!!!", it is way more often a buzz kill than a buzz up. At a minimum it needs to be scaled WAY back.

You think they could get a decent DJ from one of the radio stations in BR to help create a play list or something. It's sad when they're playing songs from when I was in high school. (college SR now)

I'm watching the replay right now and I couldn't believe I heard Zombie Nation. What the frick? We are LSU, we have our own traditions and ways of doing things. Why change that? Whoever came up with this Music all the time needs to be shot.

LSU could definitely improve the music selections - both the piped in music and TGBFTL (who have been playing some of those songs for at least 20 years I think).

Can't we mix it up a bit? We don't have to hear the same songs at the same time at every home game.

For the piped in music (since it seems we have to have it) - hire a real DJ. Anyone know of a really good one?

The games are being choreographed for the ADD generation.

Non stop sights and sounds. Ads at two minute intervals. Canned music, played too loud. Every interchange has some new on field introduction or mention. Focus on the game made less a priority.

With each passing year, the game bears less of resemblance to an LSU game day experience.

What is your idea of "improved" music that TGBFTL could play? Personally, I'd rather play a good, funky '70s song than the latest cookie-cutter pop hit...

Yes, I yearn for the days of 60,000 fans, getting our arse kicked, and the hardest hit of the night coming from a fight between two drunks in the stands.

I was going to argue that we haven't even played her stuff at games, before I realized we played "Poker Face" last night.

Not that I'm a fan of the song, but it was good enough to play in The Hangover.

I would do that shite for free, put in hours of prep work, would keep it fresh, and get that stadium pumped.

But then I'm not a pregnant 17 year old meth-head with all the presets on her car radio set to WFMF.

The "funky 70s songs" are pretty terrible.

Play for taste, not lowest common denominator.
Decide the genres.
Pick CLASSICS of each genre.
Then narrow that further by playing songs that apply to the specific situation/atmosphere of the game.
Throw in some humor/topical stuff/comedy/clips from movies.
Keep people guessing.
Make people laugh.
It's like they just don't wanna put the time in.
They work SO HARD to make gameday experience AWESOME and then there's this GIANT ANNOYANCE in the middle of it all.
They really need to stop pandering to the low-brow with pitiful third-tier trash.

We could all email the athletic dept and tell them to at least drop the rap.
