Do FCS schools still get large sum payouts for traveling to and playing FBS schools? What about "lower tier" FBS schools?

For instance when McNeese State played MTSU this year and beat them in Tennessee...did McNeese get a check?

Thanks. Was just curious if it applied to lower tier FBS schools too.

Keep in mind that even among FBS schools, there are paychecks in play.

Here's one school and the trend:

Arkansas State @ Iowa 2009: $900,000
Arkansas State @ Auburn 2010: $1,000,000
Arkansas State @ Virginia Tech 2011: $1,000,000
Arkansas State @ Oregon 2012: $950,000 + TV deal
Arkansas State @ Nebraska 2012: $1,000,000
Arkansas State @ Auburn 2013: $1,100,000

ASU works on about $12 million a year, in terms of annual budget for the entire athletic department-- so these games really do matter to the bottom line.

We (Nicholls St) have done this twice. The first time were two 2-8 teams going into the final game of the 2008 season. Nicholls beat Arkansas State 28-22 and they proceeded to announce the firing of their coach DURING the game.

quote:

ASU President Les Wyatt issued a statement announcing Hollis' termination as both football coach and interim athletic director. The statement was released during the fourth quarter of the Nicholls State game.

The Colonels also beat Rice at the beginning of the 2007 season 16-14.
