Why Miles wears the jacket during games....once and for all....

Sorry to start a new tread but I have mentioned this many times and obviously has been "missed"....
Coach Miles wears the same outfit for every game so that his players will always know how to find him on the sidelines. A little fact from a meeting with Miles a year or two ago.... I always thought the same thing but he does it for the players. Has worn it for about 5-6 years.
That's the truth.... also check ESPN interview with Erin Andrews before the Alabama games last year as well.

Maybe they'd be happy if he wore a ballin' flatbill instead.

Why do they need to see him? Do our players have terrible Vision?

He did an interview at the end of last season (regular season) where he said he wants a consistent image of him when his players look towards the sidelines. He elaborated that this includes both the hat and the jacket.

This makes sense. The players might want to find him quickly in a crowd of 200 people with a sea of about five thousand fans wearing purple and gold in the immediate background.
But if so he might want to wear something really distinctive. Hot pink or neon green maybe.

He may have said that, but it doesn't make much sense. When it's cold, the other coaches wear purple jackets. Like someone else said, it's not like he is signaling in plays or anything. And if the players need to find him, why not wear a purple shirt and have the other coaches wear white shirts? And saying he wants to be like Bo, didn't Bo have more sense than to wear a jacket when it's 90 something degrees? I bet JJ wishes he wouldn't have been able to spot him when he was telling him to clock it at the end of the Ole Miss game.

So exactly how many times in your 165 post history have you mentioned this and it's been missed?

Miles is easy to spot. He's the guy bending down to grab a snack from the turf.

Pretty sure they could find him without the jacket. He's the guy with the white hat and headset on. Take off the jacket Les, it makes me warm.

It's to cover up his man boobies

Your description of why is actually for his white cap.
He wears a jacket, no matter the weather (usually scorching) so that his players see him tough it out. It's about showing his team he is mentally tough, and that if he can handle this heat with a jacket, they can handle it too.
He spelled this out at a coaches show a few years back.

I can remember when Nick Saban was at LSU, he always wore either darker or lighter pair of slacks than his asst. coaches. I am not sure if he still does it at Alabama. I'm sure it was for the same reason.

Who cares if he wears a damn jacket?

The question is not whether he said it because he may have. The question is whether it's true. Have you ever really listened to what Mr. Miles says? Truth is so far back in his rearview mirror, he can't even see it anymore.

This is true. I saw Les explain it on an interview a few years ago.

God bless him, because he had to be hot on Saturday night. Those Nike Stormproof jackets do not breathe well, and there was damn near 100% humidity.

How does he manage not to be soaking wet in the LA humidity? Not only should he be on a deodorant commercial but give him is own survival show too.
