Why do people get so angry about these kinds of promotions? The reality is that it makes a very strong visual impression, in the stadium and (especially) on television, when everybody is wearing the same colors. Have you ever seen an aerial photo of the "Sea of Red" at Nebraska? It's pretty impressive. That's all they're going for. And they're nothing saying you can't wear white/gold/whatever AND yell until you're hoarse. I think that's actually encouraged...

They are promoting people to go out and buy clothing in the colors that are the worst sellers. You know why we don't have a purple out? Because most people already mainly buy purple. I could see them doing a white out because they want everybody to run out and purchase a white LSU shirt -- which is a license fee in LSU's pocket and profit in the store owner's pocket * 93,000.

It's not that people don't want to participate. It's that we don't want to have to run to Tiger Mania and drop another $75 down on a polo just because it's the "white out" game.
