I read about this earlier and I have to say, I'd be heartbroken reading it if he goes that far with the novellas. I don't think that he will though since from all indications he's only planning the next novella as the last one.
BTW, I also read this about a question asked to GRRM regarding Dunk's lineage.

After reading the Dunk and Egg Stories, did discover anything new regarding Bran's visions at the end of ADWD? Especially Nos 3 - 6 below.
1. His younger father praying with a bowed head "…let them grow up close as brothers, with only love between them,” he prayed, “and let my lady wife find it in her heart to forgive. [Ned praying for Cat, Jon and Robb.]
2. A girl and a younger boy play fighting with branches. [Lyanna and Benjen]
3. A pregnant women coming out of the black pool praying for a son to avenge her. [This seems to be something important about the Stark's past. But who are they? Dunk's she-wolf?]
4. A slender girl on her toes kissing a knight as tall as Hodor. [Is this the hint GRRM is talking about? Is Hodor the Dunk descendent?]
5. A pale dark eyed youth cutting three branches from the weirwood and shaping them into arrows. [Who are these three arrows for? The description could be Targ or Stark.]
6. Tall, hard, stern men with beards in fur and chain mail forcing a captive down on his knees. A white haired woman killing the captive with a bronze sickle. [Is this another hint that there is a connection to the Targs and Starks?]

Yea its Brienne she had her shield painted almost exactly how Dunks shield was. A shooting star over a tree
