One particular “Scene Which Shall Not Be Named,” as Benioff called it, left the Thrones team devastated. “I’ve never seen the crew so emotional,” Benioff says. “If the scene has that effect on the people making it who know what’s coming, if they’re that overpowered, I think it’s going to have an overwhelming effect on people watching it.”

On my recent reread through Storm of Swords (I've started a combo of DwD and FfC), it did make me physically ill and had difficulty sleeping that night. frick the Freys.

Show watchers only are going to meltdown. Can't wait for that thread.

The meltdown will rival Saban's loss to ULM in terms of epic butthurtedness Maximus.

Back to show casting and House Martell, since Selma Hyack is too long in the tooth, (although she will always be my mental image to the fcking T) what current raven-haired seductress/ succubus do y'all see as Arienne?

Considering HBO's record of recycling the talent I'm trying to think of someone from previous works and coming up blank.

She'll need some sort of Spanish/Med. accent.

I'm currently rereading the books with a friend who is reading the series for the first time. We're part of the way through Clash of Kings and he's watched almost all of the 1st Season too. He was pretty bummed when Ned got the axe.

I may have to do some grief counseling/suicide interventions when we hit the RW.

I think Noomi Rapace would be great but she's too big of a star at this point IMO.

Coral Amiga played Kevin McKidd's rather feisty daughter on Rome. That'd be the only one I could think of maybe that could fit at this point.

Both good calls - Noomi would be too high $, I agree, and I haven't seen Amiga in action...but if she can be feisty, would be a good choice. Based on appearance, and a quick google search, I see Arienne falling somewhere between Rosario Dawson (speaking of high dollar, lol) and (Slumdog Millionaire) Frieda Pinto seem to fit rather well. As long as Pinto can pull off the black swan as well as she does the white.

If you haven't seen Rome you should get on that right away. The first season was as good as anything HBO has done. The second wasn't bad, just rushed due to cancellation. All of the love you see here for James Purefoy comes from his pure badassery as Marc Antony, (he even looks like the other great Antony, Richard Burton.) Also, Ciaran Hinds, who'll play Mance, was great as Julius Caesar.

Don't know how I missed Rome. Was aware of it, but must've had a schedule conflict...Boardwalk Empire or Walking Dead maybe? Was it Max or Showtime?
