not washing her hands after she fooled with raw chicken?
Some of the checkers at Walmart Grocery on Coursey will put your raw chicken in the same bags with other stuff.

That's why they are working at Wal-Mart. Not the smartest on the block if you know what I mean.

9 out of 10 times, walmart workers will put produce with chicken or other raw meat if you set them anywere near each other on the conveyor.

When I was a kid I worked at a grocery store bagging groceries to start and we were taught HOW to bag groceries, and yes, there is a method to it. It would seem that's no longer taught how to box in, what goes with what, etc. Now I find myself having to re-bag my own groceries at the car. I usually end up throwing away five or six unnecessary bags in the process. Bags in themselves seem to be something that fixes everything. People want to put everything in one. The other day I had a lady put a thing of toothpaste in a bag for me. I had to stop her and remind her that I have thumbs.

Man this is one pet peeve of mine that I definitely share with you.
I can't stand when I go somewhere and buy one item and they ask me if I want to bag it. What the frick for you moron? So I can get a free plastic bag? Enjoy working here the rest of your life dipshit.

Exactly... What am I supposed to do with all these things. I can only use so many to clean out my car and fill small trash baskets in my house with. After a while they become a real nuisance. I'm sure they're cheap for the stores to give away but still, I really don't like having to figure out what to do with all these damn bags. Putting milk, detergents and other items with handles attached to them in bags is another WTF for me.

I usually sort items as I'm putting them on the conveyor belt so that it will make it easier for the cashier to bag. Meat, cold stuff, produce, cleaning supplies, boxed goods--all in little groups. Most of the checkers get it, but it really irks me when they seem to go out of their way to put bug spray with produce.
Except that some customers expect ALL things to put into a bag, no matter how small.
I'm sure if she didn't ask and just handed over the item & a receipt, she'd probably get chewed out by one of them.
And I'm with you Mike, anything big or with a handle--why bother trying to bag it?

I'm psychotic about the order of my groceries. Even if I'm shopping with someone else, I'll tell them to just hang back while I unload everything onto the belt in my special order.
I also try to help bag whenever I can to make sure nothing gets bagged wrong. Unfortunately, you can't just push the bagger kid away

For sure. For me, it's all frozen and refrigerated stuff first (not raw meat!). Then meat products together. Then hard/box products. Then produce. Then bread/chips/eggs.
Milk doesn't need a bag. Don't put a bag of chips with something heavy.. happens way too often.

when i unload i usually arrange everything.
produce, frozen stuff, boxed stuff, meat, dairy
try and make it easier for them but at the same time i don't want all my shite mixed up.

My husband's pet peeve has to do with his precious apples. He says he painstakingly picks the perfect ones and then some oblivious checker wants to just carelessly throw them in a bag and then shove the bag towards the other bags, bruising them.
He now makes sure to tell them he will bag those himself. I rarely buy apples for him because I know he'd prefer to do it himself.

quote:oh yes it does. I do not want the condensation from the wet milk touching the seat/floorboard of my car. I also do not want a crumb, hair or anything else that may be in the car stuck to my milk when I put it in the refrigerator. The bag protects from all of these things.
