The difference is that the boudin festival in lafayette you will have people standing in front of a stage getting down to a guy with an accordian walking around tasting the boudin offerings from places that have been around for centuries doing nothing but cook boudin and have a nice cold beer to wash it down all for a few bucks.

NOLA however you get all dressed up do a line in the bathroom then have some tofu boudin with a apricot glaze. Wash it down with a glass of non box wine or talk about the greatness of Abita IPA and then run to the bathroom to do another line. Then proclaim NOLA the boudin capital of the world.

Seriously look at the pic girl sitting alone at that table with the "my shite dont stink grin"

Bit of an exaggeration obviously, but I get what you're saying. And I pretty well agree with you. Some things aren't better when they're taken possession of by the foodies and turned into "high-brow" dining. I'll leave this kind of stuff to episodes of Chopped. Boudin works better in its natural state .. eaten while tailgating or at the camp with the boys drinking whatever cheap beer you prefer.

My girlfriend mentioned this event to me the other day. I was like "I like boudin. I like beer. Surely the two together will be awesome."

Doesn't look like my crowd or desired beer.

Please do tell where this world class boudin is located.

Cochon and Boucherie have better boudin than anywhere in the Lafayette area.

Great event. You managed to get some people I know in one of your photos.

The thing with Boudin and Beer, is that yes, Boudin is not from around here. And sure some chef from NYc doesn't "get" Boudin. Ok but moving on, if you like food and grazing events, this is probably the best one in the city. Plus because of the star power of Emeril, the chefs who come in are pretty high wattage, and the local talent is pretty well showcased as well. By 9 pm last year, that was one rocking and rolling party, spilling out into the streets with a great band.

But sure, judge the book by its cover. More for those who know.

ETA anyone who tried Alon Shaya's duck cracklin and risotto sausage wouldn't care that it was not traditional boudin. And the boudin noir from Batali and Mark Falgoust of Grand Isle were out of sight.

Tell me how this tomato sauce gumbo defeats the rest

I never knew boudin could be so fancy, I usually get a link or two at the gas station.

My little bro.
He may have worked at some pretty high class joints in New Orleans and New York, but he is about as cajun as cajun gets, without the accent. No tomatoes in his gumbo!

I went last year and had a great time. It was a mixed crowd and definitely not only for people forty and above. Most of the food I tried was top notch and it was cool to have some famous chefs actually serving you. I would say that about 50% of the food was boudin or sausage. Not sure if I am going this year because of LSU/BAMA but I would recommend it to anyone.

You people are over thinking this a little too much.
It's just a fun charity event and they are going to play around with the food a little. They probably just needed a food that started with b to go with beer.

Seriously, this is just a party. We aren't going to start seeing boudin on menus all over N.O. now.
