natural rights? gay people can naturally get married. you want legal rights, not natural rights. that's fine with me but call it what it is.
I'm not in favor of using the word marriage to describe gay unions, so I"m not involved in any way in securing legal rights for gay marriage.

I do not believe you are thinking about this logically.

A gay man does not have the right to marry another man. A straight man is also forbidden from marrying another man.

A straight man has the right to marry a woman that meets certain criteria (age, not related). A gay man also has that same right.

The rights and prohibitions are equal. Emotion has nothing to do with it regarding the law.

While I agree with you to some extent. I said my main problem was with the discrimination.

Gay people cannot give blood, there is no scientific evidence supporting any reasoning behind why this is the case. It is a completely illogical form of discrimination that is at least a little bit detrimental to our society.

If he is 25 and she is 13?
Is he impeding on her rights and liberties? I'll bet you her dad probably thinks so.

Well then you are going against against your own best interest. I see a ton of that on this board.

Hardly. I know what my best interest is, and it is NOTHING that anyone in Washington is doing today.

quote:

Most of you don't even have the slightest since of civility when it comes to discussing politics how can you be relied on to vote with an informed opinion?

Hmmm. You come in here, promote vandalism, and wonder why someone would reply in a negative tone. Yup, you definitely are a liberal.

quote:

As soon any democrat chimes in about anything here the whole board goes into a frenzy

I was a registered Dem until November of 2010.

quote:

whole board goes into a frenzy to see who can come up with the best way to call them a piece of shite and tell them they are wrong about everything.

Again, I'm against stupidity. It is wrong for you, me or anyone to tell another person how they should feel about something that isn't a social norm. If anyone dares speak against it, you want retaliation. I'm against that retaliation.

I don't agree with CFA, but I agree with their right to say what they want. I know that's something you despise, but only when it is something you disagree with. So, who is the hypocrite here?

PS - I love how you threw the "hate" and "bigot" card at me without knowing my beliefs, yet you state:

quote:

As soon any democrat chimes in about anything here the whole board goes into a frenzy to see who can come up with the best way to call them a piece of shite and tell them they are wrong about everything.

frick you. You are part of the problem.

While these rights are not expressly granted by the constitution, they are basic human rights, that both you and I have solely because we are not gay.

I call BS on this...it must be awful dark in that closet for you!

Wasn't today the Kiss-In day?

I'm not seeing photos of people kissing in Chick-fil-A.
That's impossible. The highly intelligent of this board have instinctively surmised that every single gay person living would be at Chick-Fil-A today.

use it as a source of inspiration, not a crutch like some historically oppressed peoples do

This is a bit easier said than done. There is a reason there is a high rate of suicide and drug use among young homosexuals. Dismissing them as weak does nothing for anyone.

And at least gay people aren't demanding you give them anything. They just want a piece of paper.

Edit: And imagine, while other minority groups can at least take refuge in their own family and community, it is often the family and the community which are the source of antagonism for young gays.

Again, where did I ever promote vandalism? I said it was obviously not a violent form of protest. I response to some guy saying it was. Might have been you.

frick you. You are part of the problem.

Your contribution to this topic is a perfect representation of THE problem. The very first thing you said to me was "frick you for promoting vandalism" You obviously didn't do that because I promoted vandalism, I didn't. You did it to try and demean me and impress your internet buddies, because I took a stance on an issue that you disagree with.

you seem to enjoy offending others more than discussing the issue. it's JMHO but that is exactly what this thread doesn't need

Alright, so they get the same tax benefit as you do. They don't want your money, they just want the same tax code recognition as every other couple in the country.

And try not to latch on to the legal demands here. I am trying to see that you at least try to understand why some get so vehement about their cause. They're not trying to change you, as much as trying to get some recompense for the years antagonism they have already experience.

Marry, yea sure if that is his thing. Procreate? Probably not because it would actually be detrimental to society as a whole if we started in breeding. We don't have to worry about that with gay people. They can't have babies.

And why should the government have a say whether or not my sister/wife has my baby? Birth defects perhaps? OK, what about older women having babies? It's proven babies born of older women have high chances of being born with deformities. Why stop there? Why don't we have the government make all people get tested so the government can decide who gets to have babies and who does not.

I'm sure it won't cost the business a dime to fix. To me, any damage to any person or entity (business, etc) is a form of violence. Let's meet face to face and allow me to spray paint your face. I'll see how you react to it.

quote:

I love how you threw the obviously a liberal promoting vandalism card at me. For clarification, I don't support vandalism. I just don't compare it to lynching or shooting someone.

I reply to stupidity with stupidity. You replied to me in a fashion that just about every leftist poster here, minus Dr. Radical, has to any opposition to their beliefs. Racist, bigot, homophobe, xenophobe...I've been called them all just for voicing an opinion opposite that of the left. Sad part is, I've probably voted more Democrats in office than they have.

quote:

You did it to try and demean me and impress your internet buddies, because I took a stance on an issue that you disagree with.

LOL. The LAST thing I try to do on this site is impress anyone. I could give a flying frick what anyone here thinks of me.

And again, I'm FOR gay marriage, moron. I don't disagree on this issue with you at all. I disagree with your stupid stance that the leftists and their gay mafia have the right to vandalize businesses in retaliation.

that graffiti is actually pretty well done. I like how they used the Chick Fil A marketing campaign and matched the cow's calligraphy skills

so would an incest couple. that isn't a valid reason to allow it. our society has always deemed it to be a detriment to society as a whole (probably because of the culture that arose due to it being shunned in the first place).

quote:

And try not to latch on to the legal demands here.
that's really all this is about. no one is stopping them from having a wedding on their own and considering themselves married. they want legal recognition. that's the crux.

quote:

I am trying to see that you at least try to understand why some get so vehement about their cause. They're not trying to change you, as much as trying to get some recompense for the years antagonism they have already experience.
i understand but you understand this. they are worthy of pity only if you view their orientation as natural and their demands just. if your gut tells you what they are doing is by choice for the attention, to be rebellious or because they have some inner-masochism they are trying to appease, then you will fell irritation and disgust for their cause.

you happen to be on the former side. many others are not. in time, the former will win
