Maurepas Foods Review

So I went to Maurepas Foods last night for the first tme.
I love the look and feel of the place. Great vibe. I'd highly recommend it for a first date (Neauxla take note), as it's gets loud and lively.
First, the drinks are FANTASTIC.
My friend got the Jesus H. Christ. It was a gin drink and very good.
I got the Chameleon, which was Ginger Lemoncello, Cucumber, Grapefruit and Ginger Beer. YUM! What I really LOVED about this drink was that it was rimmed with very fine SMOKED salt. Very unique and wonderful taste.
The bad part of these drinks? I'm guessing based on the final bill (which I didn't pay), that these drinks were $10 each. I had four of them and didn't even have a sight buzz. So while the entree prices are reasonable, the drink prices would land me in the poor house if I were paying my own way.
Onto the food...
For my meal, I had the Chicken Leg Quarter, Market Greens, Grits and Slow Poached Egg. At $12, I felt this plate of food was a great value. It looked great on the plate and I loved the idea of these items together. Everything was cooked perfectly as far as the chicken being moist, the grits and greens being the perfect amount of doneness, etc. And the poached egg was PERFECT...and this is rare. BUT...both the chicken and the greens were WAAAAAY too salty. I'm talking up all night drinking a gallon of water salty. I don't know if it was a rare thing that happened to me, or if they are just heavy on the salt overall. Next time I go, I would definitely tell them to ease up on it.
My friend had eaten earlier and just wanted dessert. I don't remember exactly what he got, but it looked good and he said it was great. I was too full to even take a bite.
Summary of what we got:
8 cocktails
1 entree ($12)
1 dessert
Final Bill: $110
So my final grades would be:
Atmosphere: A
Service: B- (we sat at the bar and I had to ask for my water to be refilled 3 times (needed plenty of water after all of the salt), but they were VERY friendly.
Food Taste/Preparation/Plating: B- (this would easily change to an A if it wasn't too salty), also, I only tasted one item.
Food Value: A
Drink Value: C-

Shocking.
Kidding. Thanks for the review. I have been trying to make it there.

Nice review. I liked the place the one time I went there for lunch. Didn't really think of it as a happening dinner spot, but I guess that makes sense. I had the pimenton sausage sandwich w/ squid, romesco, arugula and some kind of aioli .. and it was fricking delicious.

Did anyone in your party get the goat tacos? I've been wanting to try them.

No. There was only the two of us.
My friends want to go Sunday, so I'm sure I'll get to try a lot of different things. I'll write a new review for that trip.
