You forgot about racism. If not for racism, Dear Leader's approval rating would be in the high 90s.

Good grief.

Anyone know what the unemployement rate would be if participation was at 2008 levels?

It will be interesting to see which convention makes use of this report more effectively.

Of course. Tax returns and gay marriage are the real issues.

Not the crappy economy.

Since you asked - unemployment analysis from 2007 -2012, with some other historical data going back to 1998 :)

Based on my math, the headline U-3 # would be 11.97% if you add back in 5.7M people under the age of 65 that are no longer working.

Does the Obama administration think they can really keep telling people that things aren't lukewarm and not terrible? Do unemployed folk think to themselves "oh, unemployment is 8.2% so I must be employed?"

"Look at the numbers by state and your jaw is going to hit the floor. In some states it approaches 30%. Young AA's it is 30 % across the nation."

Furthermore, look at unemployment among black americans and young adults (18 -25), its stifling. How those factions of this country support the Dems in droves is beyond me.

They do compute that already. It's called the U-6 and the problem is that no one wants to switch to it while they are president.

'Real' Unemployment Rate Shows Far More Jobless
quote:

For that count, the government releases a separate number called the "U-6," which provides a more complete tally of how many people really are out of work.

quote:

Consider: Nevada's U-6 rate is 22.1 percent, up from just 7.6 percent in 2007. Economically troubled California has a 20.3 percent real rate, while Rhode Island is at 18.3 percent, more than double its 8.3 percent rate in 2007.

Those numbers compare especially unfavorably to the national rate, high in itself at 14.9 percent though off its record peak of 17.2 percent in October 2009.

Only three states — Nebraska (9.1 percent), South Dakota (8.6 percent) and North Dakota (6.1 percent) — have U-6 rates under 10 percent, according to research from RBC Capital Markets.

A lot of the states with high unemployment are Blue states. I wonder how blue those states would be if we didn't have government-provided and democrat supported unemployment benefits.

I have to believe the backlash against Obama would be orders of magnitude stronger.

Not looking good as the unemployment trend is upward recently.

Last thing we all need is another tail spin. I think it may be too late.

It seems the white house is caught up in the reverse cycle that they benefitted from some time ago. Its been predicted but it's odd to see the numbers shake out that while decent job addition numbers are occurred it only leads to more people actively seeking employment, raising unemployment. I hope we can build on the jobs and break out of this funk by this time next year.

At least 20 weeks of that 99 weeks is gone now. Those people are now more motivated to be looking for work a bit sooner.

The real issue is the number who have dropped out of the workforce and under-employed not reported in the government unemployment rate. Surprising article on CNBC: LINK The liberal apologist comments below the article blaming Pubs is comic gold.

I love this one:

quote:

The rate is down over 2 points from 2009 so slow and steady progress has been made and like all other data related to the economy. It improved greatly the first 2 years of Obama and has improved slowly since the midterm elections and the Republicans stopping all progress.

Per the link I posted earlier, government is reporting U-6 at exactly the same 16.2% since 2009. And this is almost a 60% increase from the 10.5% we had in 2008.

Yesterday I said that all of this tax return issue was being brought up to divert from a bad economy. Is the timing of Harry Reid's comments a coincedence? No they knew the rate was going to go up. By the way we still haven't seen any of the Obama supporters in this thread.
