Just finished the last two episodes of Season 3 last night and that had to be some of the best tv I have ever watched! Holy. frick. I actually just left work to pick up 4 so we can begin on it tonight!

Thank you to the M/TV posters, if it weren't for you I never would have came across this!

Random question: At the beginning of the last episode, they showed a young Walt and Sky buying that house. Any significance or am I overthinking this? At the end of the clip, it has Walt talking about "bigger things", but is there anything I missed.

And please, do not spoil 4 for me in any way. TIA!

I actually think Season 3 is perhaps my least favorite of the seasons (still a fantastic season mind you). Season 4 starts a little slow, but the last four episodes are as good as banging OT 10's on a mountain of money.

I think it was just showing the juxtaposition (good word, right) of the hopes of their new family when they were buying the first house together...to the complete "cluster" their lives are now.

Walt's aspirations are a significant theme in this show.

His character is set up early on as a genius who couldn't cash in on his ideas and the power of his mind. He is starkly juxtaposed to his old buddy from grad school with the successful business. Teaching is a noble pursuit, but when he gets sick he realizes it isnt enough to care for his family and feels like a failure.

Cooking meth starts out as a way to protect them, but obviously it turns into much more than that for Walt. Its his way to reclaim his manhood and surpass the expectations of his youth. His megalomania takes over from the well-meaning chemistry teacher. In season 4, you will see it even more.

The scene when they buy the house helps to set up the foundation of his later motivations.

Season 4 is the best of any drama in the history of modern TV. Season 5 may pass it on the pace it's on now though.

I'm not so sure Season 5 will surpass Season 4. But it obviously depends on how it ends.
